Covenant Journey Changes Lives of Christian College Students
Faith and Freedom with Liberty Counsel’s Mat Staver and Covenant Journey President Cindy Matthews… An 11-minute weekday radio program discussing hot topics in the area of religious liberty, the sanctity of human life and the family.
Covenant Journey is changing the lives of Christian, College Age students. These are students who will have leadership potential. These will be our leaders in America. And literally in ten days, if you want to change someone’s life, I encourage you to pray about this ministry and support Covenant Journey.
Mat Staver: Let me just give a brief overview of what this is, and then I want to talk about some of the stories, because I think that’s really what is so amazing, what’s happening to these young people. Covenant Journey really is designed to strengthen the Christian faith of these Christian college age students. Sometimes we refer to them as the millennial generation. To strengthen their faith. They are often times influenced by experiences, and they disconnect often times from their faith after high school.
Taking them to Israel is an experience like none other because it introduces them to the reality of their faith and it deepens their faith. They come back a different person. And not only a different person in their faith, but they come back understanding and falling in love with Israel. And they become advocates for our Christian faith and values and for Israel in their communities. Cindy…you were talking to one of the girls on one of the Covenant Journey trips about how this impacted her love and study and desire to read the Bible.
Cindy Matthews: That’s true. We were sitting and enjoying a falafel lunch day and so I said, “Are you enjoying the trip?” And she goes,”This has been totally life-changing for me…I grew up in a Christian home, I know Bible stories, but I have never felt the motivation to study God’s Word…”
