Ted Cruz on Senate Floor

SCOTUS Decisions Hanging in the Balance

“This should be a decision for the people.”

Those words by Senator Ted Cruz, regarding a nominee to replace Justice Antonin Scalia to the Supreme Court. Cruz pointed out that there hasn’t been an election year appointment to the Supreme Court in 80 years.

Cruz added, “We should not allow a lame-duck President capture the Supreme Court in the waning months of his presidency.”

Ted Cruz said, “I don’t think the American people want a court that will strip our religious liberties. I don’t think the American people want a court that will mandate unlimited abortion on demand, Partial Birth Abortion with tax-payer funding, and no Parental Notification. And I don’t believe the American people want a court that will write the Second Amendment out of the Constitution. All of those are 5-4 issues that are hanging in the balance.”
