Liberty Counsel Files Intervention in North Carolina Marriage Law

(1 min Audio Report – Freedom’s Call)

North Carolina law provides state magistrates the ability to become exempt from providing marriage licenses that conflict with their religious beliefs and about 30 of the 700 magistrates have done so.

Now homosexual activists are suing the state because one county, as provided in the law, brings a neighboring magistrate in to perform the marriage ceremonies and they falsely claim that any nominal cost of religious accommodation is a violation of due process and the establishment clause.

Unfortunately, both the Governor and the Attorney General tasked with defending the state law publicly supported the homosexual efforts within their state.

Thus, Liberty Counsel is requesting to intervene to provide a legitimate and vigorous defense of the law.
