What Can One Person Do in the Face of Events in Our Nation and World?
Faith and Freedom with Liberty Counsel’s Mat Staver and BarbWire’s Matt Barber… An 11-minute weekday radio program discussing hot topics in the area of religious liberty, the sanctity of human life and the family.
With all of the disturbing things that we both hear and see happening both in the United States and around the world, often times you might feel helpless. You might feel like things are out of control and what can you, as an individual person do? What can one person do?
Mat Staver: Matt, it’s a natural thing to feel helpless in times of situations where things seem to be spinning out of control. Where things, for example in the United States of America with regards to our Judeo-Christian values, whether they be same-sex marriage or the abortion industry and the brutality of abortion as revealed by these undercover videos. People who are being killed literally in college campuses because they profess Jesus Christ and they’re shot when they acknowledge they are Christians and killed in execution style.
Or the terror that took place in Paris, and that takes place around the world and particularly in the Middle East with our Christian brothers and sisters literally being slaughtered and brutally beaten and murdered because of their faith in Jesus Christ.
With all of these things sort of spinning out of control, it’s easy for people to ask the question, “What can I do?” …but at the end of the day, we know that God birthed us for this moment. And He didn’t give us a spirit of timidity of of fear. That God is still on the throne, and we need to pray and ask the Lord how He can use you in your particular situation to glorify Him for greatness.
Matt Barber: That’s right Mat. My wife and I were watching some of the coverage on Paris and some other terrorist attacks around the world. We were talking about how our nation has fallen here in the United States, and its embrace of sin and destruction of the institution of marriage as God designs it. And it’s really repudiation of God’s natural law and His truths and how a nation that turns its face from God like that cannot be long for the world.
And we were talking about this and she said, “What can I do? I feel helpless!” And I said, “Honey, all we can do is pray and be bold as a lion.”
And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?
