Vets t-shirt

Suspended for Supporting Vets

(1 min Audio Report – Faith2Action)

“They won’t let me wear a shirt that supports the people that keep us free, I’m not going to support them.”

Those words from eighth-grader Alan Holmes, who was suspended from Dexter McCarty Middle School in Gresham, Oregon, for wearing a T-shirt which depicted a battlefield cross and the words, “Standing for those who stood for us.”

While the state of Oregon is still reeling from the mass shooting which targeted Christians, the school administrators demanded that Holmes change his shirt that supports our war veterans. When he refused, he was suspended.

His father, Charles Holmes, said his son wanted to show support for his older brother who served in Iraq with the Marines. When he picked him up, he said, “I’m proud of him. I would have done the same thing.”

Sounds like it’s time for a new school policy or a new school.
