Senate Defeats the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

The U.S. Senate rejected a bill that would have protected unborn children from abortion once they reach nearly 6 months gestation. At this age babies have the ability to respond to sounds and movement around them, feel significant amounts of pain and can be viable outside of the womb.

This measure was 6 votes shy of the 16 needed. Advocates are not focusing on the defeat, but rather see this as a step down the path that will lead our nation closer to the point of protecting the most innocent and helpless of our country.
