The Rapture: Really?

Editor’s note: Although I may disagree with Linda’s eschatology, I definitely agree that The Church must be about reaching the lost with the grace of Christ Jesus, with stressing repentance (doing a 180 and agreeing with God) and living a Spirit-filled life. We must be about “…redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Tami Jackson

I’m already preparing for my own crucifixion by the 2015 Pharisees, Sadducees, religious zealots and prophecy pushers. Just make certain you hang me upside down because I am not worthy to hang the same way my Lord and Savior did.

When I was at the end of my rope of homosexuality and was contemplating suicide, I had a biblical encounter with the Living God. It was as profound as Moses encountering the burning bush. I saw the visual recording of my life on the pages of a flip chart. I could easily recall each incident of sinful behavior as the pages flipped showing scenes from my life.

Just a few days later, I attended a church meeting in Norfolk, Virginia. Another encounter of biblical proportion occurred: somehow Jesus appeared and told me He wanted all of the keys to my life.

On that day, I surrendered totally and asked for forgiveness of my sins. Several months later I became truly born again and was baptized with the Holy Spirit, as evidenced by the speaking in tongues.

Those acts of surrender and obedience have led me down a path less traveled for over thirty-three years. Much to my amazement and disgust, I have watched a different Jesus being taught in too many “places of worship,” if He is even mentioned at all, and an unbiblical gospel is taught in America and then disseminated abroad.

This has led us to becoming a desolate nation where The Church is no longer the “salt of the earth.” Unborn babies are murdered in the wombs of their mothers, sexual perversion is out of the closet flaunting itself in the sanctuaries and synagogues, and The Church is silent.

The Church is playing and having a good time waiting to be raptured out of here. They teach that the “prophets and apostles no longer exist and the spiritual gifts are no longer in operation.” But for the moment we live in, the most damaging doctrine is rapture teaching. So many have come in Jesus name and indoctrinated believers with a rapture mentality with one single verse.

Through the Left Behind book and movie series, The Church has been lured into a false sense of security. It’s the same lie Lucifer used in the “Garden of Eden; you won’t die.” Today he tells the Adams and Eves, “You’re flying out of here so eat, drink and be merry until Jesus comes to snatch you away from the tribulation of the time.”

It is time you begin “questioning” this doctrine.

Pre-trib, mid-trib, post trib or no rapture at all?

It might amaze you that Jesus never talked about the rapture with those who followed Him daily for three years. He often spoke of just the opposite occurring. He instructed them on how bleak the future was for them on earth if they followed Him (Mathew 10). In Mathew 24 he talked at length about the signs of His coming and the end of the world.

Read it and weep for the Church that believes in a lucky rabbit’s foot rapture.

Even Apostle Paul had a few choice words about the second coming of Christ in II Thessalonians:

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him. That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.

Each time I strike up a conversation with a believer about the condition of our nation and the need to return to the Lord, their response is always the same: “Jesus is coming any day to get us.”

Sadly, I hear no sorrow for the lost or the sins of The Church. Their mentality is that there is no need for repentance because they have “a ticket to ride out of here.”

This is an unbiblical gospel. If you are a lover of the truth, you will question what you have been taught about the rapture and ask the Living God to reveal to you whether the rapture that is taught should be the focus of The Church today when the nation God gave us to watch over is crumbling.

The Lord is waiting for The Church to get over THE RAPTURE and move on to hearing what “The Spirit” is saying to the Church in this hour.

Go ahead and give the Living God all of the keys to your life, even The Rapture.
