“Senate Vote Fails—for Now”
“This is most troubling. This is disturbing. It is absolutely unacceptable, unconscionable.”
Those words from West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin, who voted to bring the defund Planned Parenthood bill to floor for a vote in the U.S. Senate.
The Senate failed to bring the defunding measure up for a vote with 53 Senators voting against debate, and 46 in favor. Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly was the only other Democrat to vote to bring the defunding bill up for a vote.
The only Republican to vote against de-funding Planned Parenthood was Illinois Senator Mark Kirk, besides Majority leader Mitch McConnell, who voted “no” so the measure could be brought up again.
Tell Congress to vote against any spending bills if they include even a penny of Planned Parenthood funding.
