Godspeed Sen. Coburn and Rep. Bachmann
An emotional Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma) delivered his farewell address to the senate late last week saying:
I believe our Founders were absolutely brilliant. Far smarter than us. I believe the enumerated powers meant something. They were meant to protect us against what history says always happens to a republic. They’ve all died. They’ve all died. So the question is what will happen with us? Can we cheat history? Can we do something better than it was done in the past? And I honestly believe we can. But I don’t believe we can if we continue to ignore the wisdom of our founding documents.
One of the most thoughtful, sincere, members we have ever dealt with, Concerned Women for America (CWA) is proud to call Sen. Coburn a friend. Forever tied in a special way through our love of the late pro-life hero Michael Schwartz who served as Sen. Coburn’s longtime Chief of Staff and who was CWA’s Legislative Director prior to that, the bond of CWA and Sen. Coburn goes beyond policy. Sen. Coburn served his state and his country with distinction. We are sad to see him go, and we bid him farewell and Godspeed.

Meanwhile, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) delivered her farewell speech on the floor of the United States House of Representatives. The speech was full of the passion, grace and faith that has defined Rep. Bachmann’s stellar career as a politician. You can watch it below.
She reflected on the role of the House in American history and policy-making, and she lifted up our motto, “In God We Trust” as emblematic of what has made America great, our reliance on Almighty God.
Concerned Women for America (CWA) has a special relationship with Rep. Bachmann as she was involved with CWA even before getting involved in politics. As she thanks the prayer warriors who sustained her throughout her service in the House, she thanks many of our members who commit to pray for their representatives daily.
Rep. Bachmann sacrificed much to serve her country, and we are thankful for her. We wish her all the best as she moves forward in her service for the Lord.
