CBN News — An atheist group has a launched a huge billboard campaign in the heart of the Bible belt encouraging Americans to skip church this Christmas.
The displays are sponsored by the American Atheists and feature a young girl writing a letter to Santa, saying “All I want for Christmas is to skip church! I’m too old for fairy tales.”
The billboards are located in residential areas and near schools and churches in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee, Saint Louis, Missouri, and Fort Smith, Arkansas.
According to the group’s website, “The billboards are aimed at in-the-closet atheists who are pressured to observe religious traditions during the holidays, and who might also want to attend the annual American Atheists National Convention in Memphis in April.”
The group’s attacks on Christianity have become routine. In 2013, it put up a billboard in New York’s Times Square which read, “Keep the merry, dump the myth.”
CBN News spoke with Dr. R. Larry Moyer about the billboard campaign and how the church can use it to share the gospel.
