The Gift of Life: Books ‘and God’ Stop Bullet
(1 min Audio Report – Faith2Action)
“There is no way I should be alive.”
Those are the words of Florida State University student Jason Derfuss, who was in the line of fire of a shooter who opened fire at the Florida State library last week, wounding three–one in critical condition.
When 21-year old Derfuss pulled out his backpack, he found that the books he had just checked out were ripped apart. He explained, “I started examining them and my friend found a bullet in the back page.”
He told NBC News, “Literally, those books saved my life.” But he didn’t credit only the books, he quickly added, “Those books saved me, and God saved me.”
We are alive today for His purpose. Thank him for His protection and the gift of life. Then use it well.
