White Lesbians Sue over Black Sperm, ‘wrongful birth’

This Week’s Sign the Apocalypse is Upon Us
This week, I’m the bearer of some rather bad news: bigotry is still alive in America. We who thought our world was one big happy post-enlightened land o’ tolerance, we are dismayed to learn that some human beings have stubbornly refused to evolve with the rest of us. They still engage in irrationality, racism, and self-centered greed. And we all know what that means….
They’re the victims of discrimination and they’re going to sue.
From the Daily Mail:
A white lesbian mother is suing a Chicago sperm bank after she claims she was mistakenly sent a black man’s sperm and gave birth to a mixed-race daughter.
Jennifer Cramblett specifically picked a blonde-haired, blue-eyed white man as the father (well, sperm donor) of her child. She was sent six vials of a black man’s sperm instead. Now she and her partner Amanda Zinkon are suing for emotional distress, breach of contract, and wrongful birth of their bi-racial daughter.
Why? Because you’re racist, of course.
“Jennifer lives each day with fears, anxieties and uncertainty about her future and Payton’s future,” according to the lawsuit.
Otherwise known as…motherhood? But their situation is different because, racism.
Cramblett claims the mistake has caused her stress and anguish because her family is racist. She sobbed to NBC News that she and her partner Amanda Zinkon must now move out of their small, all-white hometown of Uniontown, Ohio, so their mixed-race daughter Payton will be accepted.
She says the “mix-up” means they have to move to a more diverse community…to get little Payton a decent haircut. Really.
“Payton has hair typical of an African American girl. To get a decent cut, Jennifer must travel to a black neighborhood, far from where she lives, where she is obviously different in appearance, and not overtly welcome,” according to the lawsuit.
So…her hometown is racist because 2-year old Payton’s not white enough…and the “black neighborhood” is racist because she’s not dark enough? Sounds like they don’t want “diversity” in their society as much as they want conformity. I certainly hope they can find the white-lesbian-moms with-biracial babies neighborhood so they can properly fit in. Otherwise, they oughtta sue.
The irony in the case is compounded by Ms. Cramblett’s own struggles over identity and acceptance. She says her family has difficulty accepting her lesbian lifestyle as her identity. So obviously they’re the type of black-hearted Neanderthals who can’t accept poor little Payton for her skin color. Truly, a grievous situation. Which she’s chosen to remedy with a “wrongful birth” lawsuit. Flawless logic.
You can’t just go, “Well you got a baby. You got a baby so you should be happy. Lesbian couple can’t get a baby anyway. You should be happy that you have a healthy child.” “I am happy that I have a healthy child. We love her more… to this day, she’s made us the people that we are. Never trade it for the world.”
Except that’s exactly what a “wrongful birth” claim says. That you think your beautiful daughter should never have been born at all, because she’s “wrong.” That if things were “right,” Payton’s happy smile and shiny curls would be justly wiped off the face of the earth, never to laugh or play with you again…because she isn’t what you thought you wanted.
Incidentally, “wrongful birth” is typically (and heinously) levied when a child is born with a congenital defect and the parents aren’t properly enabled to kill them because of it. The perceived “defect” in this case? Um…her race? Is that your final answer? Really? Eugenics and ethnic cleansing is so last century, don’t you think?
Sarcasm aside, there are clearly racial tensions still simmering in our society. We are one race, one human family, yet we are also all alike in our fallen self-centered nature. We all find reasons to hate and separate instead of support and serve one another. I can’t pretend to know what kind of ugliness or ignorance can be directed toward biracial families. But I can recognize it as wrong when it surfaces.
And here we have a white woman saying her child was a “wrongful birth,” because she has more melanin than her mom planned on. That she should be compensated for “emotional anguish” because presumed racism so hard for her because of this beautiful little girl. Presumably the state also owes 12% of the Ohio population (who are black) major money just for leaving the house each day.
Nothing is wrong about little Payton. But now her lesbian mom says her own child was “wrongfully born” because she was “born this way”…and it wasn’t the way she wanted.
But you’re the racist. Right.
