U.S. Rep Sheila Jackson Lee shows a bag of Skittles during her remarks at a public forum on the death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, on Capitol Hill in Washington

Video: Rep Sheila Jackson Lee Believes the Constitution is 400 Years Old. It Isn’t.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D.TX) strikes again. This time with a history lesson straight from the government schools. She announced Wednesday on the floor of the House that the U.S. Constitution is 400 years old.

It isn’t.

“Maybe I should offer a good thanks to the distinguished members of the majority, the Republicans, my chairman and others, for giving us an opportunity to have a deliberative constitutional discussion that reinforces the sanctity of this nation and how well it is that we have lasted some 400 years, operating under a constitution that clearly defines what is constitutional and what is not,” she said.

Our Founding Fathers, of course, weren’t even a twinkle in their own fathers’ eyes at the time Lee suggests the constitution was drafted. The “progressive” congresswoman is only off by 173 years. The document that she and her fellow Democrats know so little about and abuse so very often was actually adopted 227 years ago on September 17, 1787.
