The 2014 Voter Pop Quiz

Barb Wire

It’s time for a pop quiz, low-information-voting-America, but since I’m in a forgiving mood I’ll make it a multiple-choice test.

Let’s start with an easy one.

1. Which of the following groups has the most only legitimate claim on the American taxpayer?

a. Career politicians

Trending: The Media Is Generally Ignoring the Other Story Out of Charlottesville

b. illegal aliens

c. Planned Parenthood

d. military veterans

Don’t think about this one too long, because it should be rather simple. I like to start you off easy. If you answered military veterans, you would be correct.

This should be a no-brainer. After all, our military veterans are the primary reason we have the freedom to conduct any exercise in liberty at all. However, there are plenty of people running for office this year who sadly disagree.

Take Congressman Bruce Braley, running for U.S. Senate in my home state of Iowa (against veteran Joni Ernst), as just one example.

The ongoing VA scandal is a national disgrace that should bring shame on our leaders who let it happen. Given the voluntary sacrifice they’re willing to make on our behalf, our veterans and their families should be among the best paid and best cared for public servants we have. Yet Braley did exactly nothing to stop this disgrace as a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee.

In fact, Braley missed 75% of the VA oversight committee meetings since 2012. Several times he decided to do fund-raising events to serve his own selfish ambitions instead. On the other hand, Braley supports taxpayer dollars for the killing of preborn children, supports President Obama’s costly amnesty scam, and thinks you should continue to pay for his “towel service” even during a government shutdown.

2. How many times in history has arming “moderate Muslims” in the Middle East worked out?

a. Never

b. Occasionally

c. Always

d. “Wait, we’re going to do what? Are the people calling the shots just completely ignorant of the 1400-year history of Islam and the West?”

This is a bit of a trick question, because the answer is both “a” and “d.”

Every time we have attempted to do this it has come back to bite us in the backside. Yet it appears President Obama plans on trying this folly yet again in the “don’t call it a war” against ISIS/ISIL. Yet we keep trying it because the post-modernists in our ruling class wish to assume all worldviews, religions, and cultures are essentially the same and have equal claim on truth/morality.

Unfortunately, the Muslim world is not similarly afflicted with political correctness, thus the weapons we give the moderates always end up in the hands of the extremists. Or today’s “moderates” become tomorrow’s “extremists” once armed, and then we have to train new moderates to take on the new extremists who were the old moderates. Still with me? Then you, too, are qualified for a job in our State Department.

Am I saying all Muslims are bad? No. I know people claiming to be Christians who if they were on fire I might be tempted to pretend I didn’t know where the water hose is. Across the street from us is an atheist family that’s always been kind to our Christian home-schooled kids.

No moral or religious viewpoint has the market cornered on common human decency. That’s why it’s common. However, to pretend that true adherence to a Q’uranic worldview births a peaceful, prosperous civilization that respects God-given rights and individual liberty is to also believe in unicorns. There have been attempts at modernization and moderation within Islam throughout its history. Those unfortunate souls who try always end up getting killed first once the full-brunt of a Q’uranic worldview is implemented and mobilized. See: Ottoman Empire as just one example. See this video as another.

This is the perfect segue to our next question.

3. Where in the world today are peaceful Muslims living a better life under strict Q’uranic rule than they’d have if they lived here in the “Great Satan” United States instead?

a. Our “friend” Saudi Arabia

b. Northern Ireland

c. Yemen

d. Nowhere

The answer is clearly “d” and herein lies the problem. Until that changes the Middle East will not change for the better. Muslims who wish to coexist peaceably with their fellow man are in direct conflict with centuries-old and still mainstream interpretations of the Q’uran, which teach Islamic dominion of the globe is the ultimate goal of Islam. This explains why the Muslims who refuse to partake of violent Jihad are usually the first and primary victims of those that do. We should be putting the onus on Islam to reform itself if it no longer wants American intervention within its lands, rather than pretending the Q’uran doesn’t teach in certain places what it certainly does.

4. Who is better off now than they were before President Obama took office?

a. Vladimir Putin

b. Hamas

c. Iran

d. all of the above

The answer – tragically – is “d.”

5. Who is worse off now than they were before President Obama took office?

a. Everybody else

The answer – tragically – is “a.” If you missed this one, turn the page and immediately begin your lobotomy.

If you answered each of these questions correctly, you are now prepared to vote on November 4th. If you answered any of these questions incorrectly, you are eligible to vote on November 5th.
