We are increasingly becoming a lawless nation.
The latest tragic proof taking place in Ferguson. From the media giving the rioters what amounts to their own Super Bowl pregame show for hours prior to the grand jury verdict, thus lathering up the troublemakers all the more. To the media showing up there preemptively before the authorities did. And then it was obvious the authorities were told not to intervene on behalf of innocent lives and private property that were imperiled, probably because they knew they didn’t have the political backing should something happen to one of these rioters in a confrontation. They might end up on the wrong end of one of the injustice department’s tribunals themselves.
Then the president, who could’ve spoken hours before this happened to try and head this off, or maybe even gone to Ferguson himself to lead peaceful protests for those that believe the Brown family wasn’t given justice here, instead uses the occasion of his speech to make political points once the rioting was already underway. Even shamelessly calling upon the ‘rule of law’ he frequently violates. After elevating the controversial and incendiary Al Sharpton to legitimacy, of course. So much for that Nobel Peace Prize.
The sad irony of all of this is Ferguson is a relatively peaceful community where blacks are the dominant demographic. So all these rioters are doing is destroying a community’s infrastructure that belongs to people who look like them. Gone will be those businesses, and the jobs they provided, which a community like Ferguson desperately needs.
There are no winners here, but the loser is the American people as a whole.
As race-baiting becomes more and more mainstream in our body politic, it’s having dire side effects. Ferguson being just one example. Recent U.S. Senate races like the one in Georgia are another, where Democrat Michelle Nunn received only 23% of the white vote in a state her father was once a very popular politician. After claiming a vote for Thom Tillis might create more Fergusons in North Carolina, Democrat Kay Hagan saw her percentage of the white vote fall to just 33% and she lost.
What’s happening here is more and more middle class whites are tired of being told if they don’t want their healthcare imploded they’re a racist. If they can’t afford to pay for the college tuition of illegal aliens they’re a racist. And so on and so on. Republicans aren’t winning these voters, but the Democrats are losing them by taking cultural Marxism and Saul Alinsky mainstream. We are now a nation divided by demographics and not ideas.
That is not good for the future of the country, no matter who you are and what you believe. We can find common ground in a pluralistic society on ideas, when we honestly engage each other. But once we’re divided into tribal identities all bets are off, and the system collapses — as Ferguson is demonstrating as we speak.
