Black Pastor: Blacks Should Support Republicans because Democrats Have Failed Them

There is an opening for Republican candidates in the black community today – the question is simply, are these candidates equipped to reach out?

As the Obama era comes to an end, America’s black community is beginning to recognize that the Democrat Party has not been good for them. Today, black poverty, joblessness and incarceration are at all time highs.

Democrat strongholds like Chicago, Baltimore, and Detroit are all falling apart. Democrat policies have failed, are continuing to fail, and will fail in the future… not because of the people implementing the policies, but because of the polices themselves.

Today, more than any other time in recent history, segments of the black community may actually be ready to join with conservatives in an effort to solve the problems our nation faces. We must try to win their confidence.

To that end, Pastor Corey Brooks of New Beginnings Church in Chicago, Illinois has invited every Presidential candidate (in particular the Republicans) to come and visit the South Side of Chicago and to meet with the people who live there.  “African Americans have been loyal to the Democratic Party, but there is a group of African Americans that feel like the Democratic Party has not been loyal to us.”

Brooks explains that after decades of Democrat leadership, the black community is actually worse off today than ever before:

We have a large, disproportionate number of people who are impoverished. We have a disproportionate number of people who are incarcerated, we have a disproportionate number of people who are unemployed, the educational system has totally failed, and all of this primarily has been under Democratic regimes in our neighborhoods.

So, the question for me becomes, how can our neighborhoods be doing so awful and so bad when we’re so loyal to this party who is in power? It’s a matter of them taking complete advantage of our vote… And we don’t want anyone from any party taking us for granted.

In fact, Brooks has come to the conclusion that the Democrats have failed the black community, and that it’s high-time they tried something new.  “They have a failing plan,” Brooks said of Democrats. “A business owner wouldn’t allow the person who runs it to remain in charge for 50 years, constantly running it into the ground.”

Thus far only Senator Rand Paul has taken Pastor Brooks up on his offer and visited the South Side of Chicago, but others are preparing to make the same trip – and soon.

Could this be the start of something big for the GOP? Could Republican effort to reach out and connect with African-American voters really work? Pastor Brooks seems to think it can, and that should be reason enough for us to try.

For a little more background into Pastor Brooks I’ve added a video below that should tell you a little bit more about the man and his church.

Last year he endorsed Republican Bruce Rauner (R-IL) to be Governor of Illinois and the very next day his church was attacked, vandalized and robbed and the Pastor himself received death threats for his decision to vote Republican.
