I envision a world without places like North Korea, Iran, and Cuba. So I’ll just call the atlas company and have them draw their maps without all those places. Ridiculous?
That’s exactly what happened when atlas publisher Harper Collins printed atlases for schools in the Middle East and decided to change the geography to exclude Israel. That’s right, they left Israel off the map.
They wanted to satisfy what they called “local preferences,” so they took Israel out.
Thanks to 39 people who posted reviews on Amazon calling the action “horrifying,” “sickening” a “travesty and international shame,” the anti-Israel atlas has been removed and Harper Collins issued an apology, promising to destroy all remaining copies.
