Religious Liberties Act Wins in Florida, Signed by Gov Scott

Religious liberties are protected in Florida because of a new law that has now been signed by Governor Rick Scott.
Mat Staver: Holly, this case, or this law, is known as the Florida Student and School Personnel Religious Liberties Act. It prohibits public school districts from discriminating against students, parents, or personnel on the basis of religious views or expression.
It was sponsored by state Senator Dennis Baxley, and will take effect July 1, 2017. So this law now in effect. Baxley is one of the supporters of it and it ultimately went through the legislature.
This is a great piece of legislation overviewing the law in one place. And I think this is a great example for other states to follow.
Holly Meade: Yea, it’s so encouraging. Senator Baxley said that part of what we’re protecting is those basic rights for religious expression, which are protected by free speech, and we’re letting people know it doesn’t stop at the property line of the school site. We owe our educators some clarity…
