Liberty Counsel Files Federal Lawsuit Defending ‘Good News Club’

Liberty Counsel filed a federal lawsuit against an Indiana school district on behalf of Child Evangelism Fellowship for the ministry’s Good News Club. You would think that the school districts would know by know that equal access is fairly simple — it means equal access, equal treatment. Not only in use of the facility, but also how the facilities are being charged or not being charged.
This particular school wasn’t following the law and negotiations did not resolve the matter, so now we’re in federal court.
Mat Staver: Matt, fairly clear. Not only do you have to have equal access to use the facilities, but also time of the facilities being used. You can’t say “Well, we’re going to give you access to the facilities but it’s 10:00 at night,” whereas others are right after school. And, whatever you charge or for use that you provide, ou have to do it equally for other similarly situated groups. And in this case district insisted on charging Child Evangelism Fellowship, but other similar groups they waived the fees…
