State sanctioned discrimination is occurring in Georgia. Now lightning has struck a second time, of all places, in the Bible belt.
Mat Staver: Holly, this is the second time that we’ve had a situation. Both, interestingly, African Americans, that were terminated from their public employment positions because of their position regarding human sexuality, particularly homosexuality.
The first one was a few years ago, it’s still in litigation. And that is the fire chief, Kelvin Cochran. I’ve had the opportunity to meet Kelvin Cochran. He is a wonderful man. He is active in his church. He was actually appointed as the head of all the firefighters in the country on a commission, appointed by none other than President Barack Obama!
He is someone who is recognized around the country for his expertise as a fire chief. He was well-liked. And in a book he wrote something about homosexuality — the book wasn’t about that issue but he wrote about it in biblical context and the mayor terminated him.
He was the fire chief in Atlanta, in the Atlanta Fire Department…
