American Peace is Not Found in Downplaying Terrorism
President Barack Obama and his own party have an extensive record of downplaying radial Islamic attacks in America, and now the Commander in Chief says there is no apparent connection between the bombings in New York and New Jersey and the stabbings at a mall in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
In a lengthy statement to the Washington Free Beacon on Monday, Senator Ted Cruz exhorted Americans, “As we confront this new phase, we must avoid the trap of misconceiving these attacks as isolated incidents somehow disconnected from the larger ideological struggle against jihad,” Cruz said. “It is past time to take off the blinders and call the enemy what it is: radical Islamic terrorism engaged in a coordinated campaign designed to disrupt our very way of life.”
I agree Senator Cruz, and I believe our founders would as well.
During the time of our founding, Islam was a major religion in many parts of the world. Therefore, there were numerous Muslims living in America during the time of its founding. Naturally, there was great concern over Muslims taking over America’s Christian value system, especially since America was in a war against Islamic terrorists – the Barbary Powers War – that spanned over the presidencies of George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison.
Rather than pandering to Islam or downplaying the religion’s dangerous potential, our founders preferred Christianity! They unapologetically referred to the religion of America as the blessed religion of our Lord Jesus Christ – the same Lord they acknowledged when signing the Constitution “in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven.”
Why were they so exclusive? Simple, because Christianity is the ONLY system of worship designed to bring liberty and freedom to all mankind. This is because all men and women are created in God’s image.
In direct opposition to America’s founders, during his first national campaign in 2008, Barack Obama is on record saying that America is not a Christian nation.
“Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation – at least not just,” Obama said. “We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation and a Buddhist nation and a Hindu nation and a nation of non-believers.” He then continues by saying, “I think it’s time we joined a debate about how to reconcile faith with our modern pluralistic society.”
To prove my point of Obama’s backwards ideology, George Washington admonished American soldiers, patriots, and families, stating, “The blessing and protection of Heaven are at all times necessary but especially so in times of public distress and danger. The General hopes and trusts that every officer and man will endeavor to live and act as becomes a Christian soldier, defending the dearest rights and liberties of his country.”
As we see the role of Christianity diminished in our society — as we see our institutions abandon or corrupt its doctrine — are things getting better or worse for us?
We would do well to remember, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”.
