Uniting Nations for a Family-Friendly World
Although diplomats and bureaucrats from North America and Western Europe have attempted to promote the sexual revolution at the United Nations, the vast majority of the 193 member nations have resisted that agenda and support the natural family.
Those countries have on their side the language of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which states, “The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State.”
On Monday, a diverse group of countries from Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America came together with non-governmental allies such as the Center for Family and Human Rights (C-FAM) and FRC to celebrate the International Day of Families at U.N. headquarters in New York, with an event titled, “Uniting Nations for a Family Friendly World.”
During my testimony, I cited the UDHR language in addressing the gathering, declaring, “The family is the ‘natural’ group unit of society because its existence is rooted in the order of nature itself. Specifically, it is rooted in the natural relations between a man and a woman, which produce children as their natural fruit.” Adding, “The family is the ‘fundamental’ group unit of society because it pre-dates all other forms of government. Therefore, it is not the place of government to redefine or interfere with the natural family.”
We’re thankful to all our allies who continue to defend the natural family — both here at home and around the world.
