Bill Clinton vs. Black Lives Matter

At a Hillary Clinton campaign event in Philadelphia, former President Bill Clinton ran afoul of some very loud, and seemingly very angry Black Lives Matter (BLM) protestors. While the former President was speaking, several #BLM activists interrupted his speech and began deriding his wife for comments she made years ago. BLM protestors have been hounding Mrs. Clinton for several months now and have refused to accept any of her attempts to backtrack on her comments or assuage their anger.

It seems that the campaign against her has finally begun to get under her husband’s skin because he chose to speak directly to the BLM protestors in Philly.

“See these other signs? This is what’s the matter. I don’t know how you would characterize the gang leaders who got 13-year-old kids hopped up on crack and sent them out into the street to murder other African American children. Maybe you thought they were good citizens. [Hillary Clinton] didn’t. She didn’t. You are defending the people who kill the lives you say matter! Tell the truth!” Clinton demanded the protestors.

Clinton then went on to take a whack at President Obama’s “legacy” by pointing out how dangerous the world has become during the Obama era.

“Unlike when I was president, a lot of things are coming apart around the world now,” Clinton said.“We like to just think about our economic issues, but you have to worry about a collapse in Europe dragging back the American economy. You have to worry about the largest number of refugees since World War II. And all this stuff comes home.”

There is no arguing with the BLM movement because any action (or reaction) is simply confirmation of the things they already “know” to be true. It strikes me as similar to the Global Warming Alarmists argument — if it’s cold, Global Warming! If it’s hot, Global Warming! If it’s rainy, dry, or somewhere in-between, Global Warming!

So it goes with the BLM activists as well. Engage them, then you’re a confrontational racist! Don’t engage them, then you’re an ignorant racist! Show them facts and data to disprove their arguments, then you’re a bigoted racist! Cower in a corner hoping they ignore you, then you’re a fear-mongering racist!

Bill Clinton should have realized this before engaging and just left it alone. Former Baltimore Ravens Linebacker Ray Lewis recently tried to engage on this same subject and now he’s being called ignorant, and being attacked as a tool of the racist white majority. It just doesn’t pay to argue with people who have no interest in who’s right, but only care about winning a fight.
