Liberty University School of Law Scores Highest Bar Pass Rate in Virginia
Lynchburg, VA – Liberty University School of Law ranked number one among all Virginia law schools for the July bar exam. While Liberty University once scored the highest bar pass rate for the February exam, this is the first time since the law school was founded in 2004 that it ranked number one in the July bar exam.
Liberty University School of Law first-time takers on the July bar exam passed by a rate of 93.33 percent. Coming in second place was Washington & Lee University at 91.49 and the University of Virginia at 89.58. The remaining law schools in order of pass rates were the College of William & Mary, University of Richmond, George Mason University, Regent University, and Appalachian University.
“To achieve the number one rank for the July bar exam in a state that has multiple top-tier law schools is an amazing accomplishment. The bar pass success is a testament to the students, faculty, staff, and administration, and is an affirmation of the fine program of legal education at Liberty University,” said Mat Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel.
Staver was part of the founding of Liberty University School of Law and served as Dean from May 2006 to the end of 2014. Staver led the law school through full accreditation status from the American Bar Association on August 5, 2010, and also led the law school to reaffirmation of full accreditation on October 16, 2014. The law school is now on a seven-year reaffirmation cycle.
In addition to having the highest bar pass rate in Virginia, Liberty University School of Law’s Moot Court program is ranked 11th in the nation for 2014-2015, and the competition teams have received more than 80 awards and honors. In 2013 Liberty University School of Law was crowned the National Champion at the ABA National Arbitration Tournament.
