God Haters

The God Haters Book Answers New Atheists!

By Harold Willmington, D.Min. – BarbWire guest contributor

It seems the American atheists who make up a small portion of our population are controlling the majority. This is demonstrated when a football team is forbidden to pray before a game; a valedictorian is not permitted to mention his or her faith in Christ; a nativity scene is prohibited on public property; and a minister is not permitted to pray in the name of Christ at a political meeting! What happened to America? How did Americans lose the right to continue traditions that have been followed for decades? There seems to be an atheistic compulsion to control believers, not only to reject their God.

The last thirty years may well be remembered as the era of the angry atheist. Visit any secular bookstore and you will find prominently displayed the writings of “six satanic scribes” (my evaluation)! These are: Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris, David Mills, and last but not least, the poster boy for atheism—Bart Ehrman. These authors have no doubt been used by the enemy to weaken if not destroy the faith of many Christians.

While no one should infringe on minority rights, it must not be forgotten that the majority also has rights. It is not reasonable that the desires of the few should trample the rights of the many but that is what is happening in America and other “free” nations.

The many restrictions leveled upon Christians would not have been possible only fifty years ago; but since God was expelled from public schools, the Bible was banned, and the negative impact of movies, television, and music, America’s soul has been “gutted.” The older generations are often shocked that evil is now good, wrong is now right, and few are even willing to debate the issues in question.

We have seen ancient truths, believed and accepted as normal by civilized people throughout the world for millennia, tossed aside like last season’s fashions. The attempt is to replace them with unbelievable wickedness that caused past generations to blush. There is no shame associated with same sex “marriage”; the slaughter of unborn children; adultery; and the dishonoring of parents.

Because of atheistic influence, “There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness” Prov. 30:11, 12. Because past generations capitulated to evil, the present generation can be correctly and tragically described as being lawless, leaderless, anchorless, clueless, and truthless!

I have often thought, is there no one on our side to counteract these vicious attacks. It is at this point when Dr. Don Boys “rides to the rescue.” In his book, The God Haters, he systematically sets them up—and in rapid fashion—shoots them down. Don has literally fulfilled the admonition of the Apostle Peter in I Peter 3:15. “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.” Boys provides the answers to what atheists call “contradictions.”

The God Haters not only exposes the shallow, even ridiculous, and never scholarly complaints by New Atheists in their tirade against God but it is also a valuable Bible answer book for the major “problems” in Scripture that unbelievers delight in talking about. Boys exposes numerous mistakes made by men who loudly profess their scholarship–scholarship that is obviously flawed.

Dr. Boys read the major atheist literature, majoring on the New Atheists of recent years, and answered every charge they make as reasons to not believe that God exists. He points out that Thomas Paine, a great patriot during the War for Independence, became a pain in his polemic against God. Ingersoll wrote about the “mistakes of Moses” but Don points out the mistakes of Ingersoll. Most of the book deals with the New Atheists, Dawkins, Dennett, Hitchens, and Harris whom Boys identifies as angry, asinine, and arrogant. His chapter dealing with Bart Ehrman will be invaluable to those who have been deceived by his seemingly reasonable but dangerous attack upon the Bible.

The God Haters is a pointed, practical, and powerful defense of the faith that everyone should read and heed.
