Caiden Cowger

17-Year-Old Conservative Becomes the Youngest Nationally Syndicated Radio Host in Talk Radio History

On September 29, 2015, seventeen-year old conservative radio talk show host Caiden Cowger, began broadcasting on WXMB-FM 101.5 in Myrtle Beach, SC. This made Cowger the youngest nationally syndicated radio host in the history of talk radio.

Cowger began his broadcasting career at the age of twelve and has continued to host his show, The Caiden Cowger Program, which is approaching its five year anniversary. His show currently airs on WFSB-AM/FM (Quitman, GA), WBUC-AM (Buckhannon, WV) and multiple others.

Cowger stated that Rush Limbaugh, who is recognized as being the most listened to radio host in the United States, inspired him to start his own radio show.

“I first became aware of Mr. Limbaugh during his address to CPAC in 2009,” Cowger said. “I instantly became a fan, and began listening to him regularly. As I began looking for ways to get involved, I thought of him and decided to start a conservative talk radio show.”

Cowger expressed his gratitude to American Family Radio host Bryan Fischer, along with his producer Jeff Reed.

“Bryan Fischer is one of my biggest mentors, and has been more than supportive of me throughout my broadcasting career,” Cowger stated. “Jeff Reid, his producer, has also been a wonderful influence in my life.”

Until this year, Ben Ferguson was recognized as being the youngest nationally syndicated radio personality in the United States. Ferguson started hosting a radio show at the age of 13 and became nationally syndicated at the age of 20.

“When I was around seven or eight, I recall going with my grandpa into a bookstore in Flatwoods, WV, and picked a book titled It’s My America Too, by Ben Ferguson,” Cowger exclaimed. “I remember thinking, ‘Wow, it would really be neat if I could do something like that.’ About 5 years later, I began my radio career.”

“To be honest, while Rush inspired me to start a radio show, Ben Ferguson’s book was the small spark that lead to my interest in broadcasting.”

This year, Cowger was also named as being one of Red Alert Politics’ 30 under 30 honorees, where thirty inspirational conservatives of 2015 under thirty-years-old are selected based on their passion and dedication to conservative principles, even in the face of opposition, and for their influence across the country.

Red Alert Politics is a right-of-center news and opinion website, directed toward young Americans and is a division of MediaDC, which also serves as the publisher of The Weekly Standard and The Washington Examiner.

A gathering for the honorees took place on July 28th, in Washington, D.C, and was attended by Campus Reform’s Caleb Bonham and Breitbart’s Matthew Boyle, among others.

Now broadcasting in Myrtle Beach, Cowger will be competing with another one of his major influences, Mark Levin, for conservative audiences along the coast.

Recently, Cowger met Levin at the 2015 Values Voter Summit in Washington D.C.

“Today, I met ‘The Great One.’ He is a guy who I have been listening to almost as long as Limbaugh,” Cowger wrote on his Facebook page after the event. “I told him, ‘It is an honor to meet you, sir. My name is Caiden Cowger and I am a conservative talk radio host from West Virginia, and I’m 17. You have been a major inspiration of mine. Rush taught me how to talk, and you taught me how to handle callers.’ Mark Levin chuckled and told the people around, ‘Wow they keep getting younger and younger. I didn’t start radio until I was 40.’”

Caiden Cowger has become the next generation of conservative talk radio, fighting to ensure that freedom will not become extinct in his generation.
