Hillary-Clinton-2-SC

Falling Apart a Piece at a Time

I write fantasy novels, among other things. A few of you have read them. In writing a fantasy, the challenge always is to take something completely imaginary and persuade the reader to believe in it, temporarily. If he believes in the fantasy permanently, something has gone wrong.

My fantasies tell of a world that is being shaken and stirred by God to break people loose from their false gods and their spiritual decay—come to think of it, a world very like our own. But when I compare my fantasies to the real world’s headlines, it’s always the real world that comes off as a lot freakier than the imaginary world. For instance:

Hillary Clinton recently had a hymn sung to her, with her name plugged in to replace the name of Jesus Christ. I know it sounds like a hoax, but there’s video to go with it.

At Washington State University, there was a major flap a few weeks ago when it was revealed that certain professors, among other blatant offenses, were requiring white students to “defer to minorities” at all times, or else be given failing grades. Another professor forbade the use of the words “male” and “female,” and another required students to support amnesty for illegal aliens—or else fail the course.

You can’t put stuff like this into a fantasy. People would think you were overdoing it.

“Woke Up This Morning (With Jesus on My Mind)” becomes “With Hillary on My Mind”—if there is a mind involved here anywhere—and the whole thing is turned into a worship exercise directed at a mere mortal, and not even a particularly nice mortal, at that. This from the same party that, at its national convention in 2012, on TV broadcast world-wide, booed the name of God.

In Kentucky, as you read this, county clerk Kim Davis is in prison for refusing to break God’s commandments by signing her name to marriage licenses for pairs of homosexuals. It seems we have no fear of God judging us for rebellion and apostasy.

Somehow, in just the past few years, it became a bad thing to believe in God. Oh, well, you can believe in Him all you want—which Hillary Clinton calls “freedom of worship”—as long as you don’t act like you believe in Him. Or, as the Bible puts it, “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well; the devils also believe, and tremble” (James 2:19).

Meanwhile, you can worship Hillary.

Just about everybody goes to college now—and what are they getting for their money?

It’s what we like to call “education” that prepares Americans to accept, passively, or even enthusiastically, the destruction of our culture and its replacement by a kind of pseudo-culture dreamed up by assorted progressives and other lunatics. So, yes, of course—Jesus is out and Hillary is in.

In fairness, it must be noted that when Washington State got caught performing a parody of education, the university president quickly announced that all students’, even white students’, full Constitutional rights would be observed at this taxpayer-funded institution. So there won’t be any rule saying white persons have to bow down to “minorities”—no one bothered to define that word—if they don’t want to flunk out, and it will still be permitted to identify human beings as male or female, and you don’t really have to shout out support for Open Borders just to get your college degree. They got caught, so they aren’t going to be doing any of those things. For now.

Here a hymn to a politician, there another crazy college story. Here a Christian in jail, as if she’d robbed a liquor store, there another mass shooting—blamed on guns, of course: not on homicidal narcissists.

You can’t kill the culture. It will kill you right back. You can’t say, “Oh, we’ll have the gay marriage and the rap music, with some transgender, please, and a big bowl of atheism—but leave out the shootings.” You can say it, but you won’t get it. What you get when you murder the culture is not just the bits and pieces that you want, but the whole damned package. (I say “damned” because it is damned.)

Maybe one little thing—say one iffy sex scene in a single movie—is virtually harmless in itself.

But those little things add up. And we are fast reaching the point where it’s very dangerous to pile up any more.
