Mother Stands Up Against Library Pushing LGBT Books on Children
Faith and Freedom with Liberty Counsel’s Mat Staver and special guest from Texas, Melanie Graft… An 11-minute weekday radio program discussing hot topics in the area of religious liberty, the sanctity of human life and the family.
A public library in Texas has inappropriate books that promote the LGBT lifestyle — same sex activities — and this is for young children. A mother in Texas is standing up.
Mat Staver: Melanie, tell us about your story, how you came to be involved in this situation with a library in Texas.
Melanie Graft: My four year old daughter and I were visiting the section of the library where the new children’s books are advertised. And she picked up a book, it was very bright with attractive colors on it and proceeded to open it, and proceeded to ask me, “What is this?”
and I looked at the book and it depicted two men and two women kissing. She asked me about it and I looked at it — I took it and looked at it closer. The book was entitled This Day in June and it’s a picture book recommended for ages 4 – 8.
It’s a book depicting the LGBT Pride Parade and it also has many pictures depicting political matters like “Vote against hate!” “Vote equal rights/gay marriage…” It had pictures of men dressed as women, a man dressed as a nun. And in the back of the book there were discussions questions for as little as three years old.
