Officer On Leave After Video Shows Him Slamming Teen Girl To The Ground
A Texas police officer has been put on administrative leave after a video surfaced showing the officer wrestle a 14-year-old girl to the ground before pulling his gun on two black young men.
The incident occurred Friday when McKinney police responded to a disturbance at the Craig Ranch North Community Pool where they say a large party of teens “refused to comply with police commands.”
“The initial call came in as a disturbance involving multiple juveniles at the location, who do not live in the area or have permission to be there, refusing to leave,” the statement says, referring to a community pool located in an affluent suburb.
A video of the party shows that it was mostly black teens while the officers appear to be white.
The video captures the chaos of the party. It starts off with an officer appearing to trip and fall before rolling out of it to stand up and continue running. He is followed by another sprinting officer.
Screams and yells can be heard from dozens of teenagers, some standing around, some running. Later on, one officer is highly agitated and stomps around yelling and cussing at the teens. He tells some to leave and some to sit on the grass. He handcuffs a pair of black teens and then turns to a nearby group and begins yelling at them.
He can then be seen grabbing one black teenage girl in a bikini and wrestling her to the ground. The crowd nearby begins yelling and runs over to her as she appears to resist the officer. Two black teens run up to the officer but then flee when two other officers come at them.
The officer gets the girl to the ground and can be seen at one point pushing her head into the ground.
“Call my momma!” The girl yells, apparently about to cry. The officer finally gets the girl under control as the crowd around him disperses.
“I’m going to tell you one more time, get your ass out of here!” He yells.
McKinney police are still investigating the incident but have not released the name of the officer. Some outlets have identified him as Eric Casebolt.
Authorities said the girl was released and an adult male was arrested and charged with evading arrest and interference with the duties of a peace officer.
“The initial call came in as a disturbance involving multiple juveniles at the location, who do not live in the area or have permission to be there, refusing to leave,” McKinney Police Department said in a statement on their Facebook page. “McKinney Police received several additional calls related to this incident advising that juveniles were now actively fighting.”
