An Entire Country Practically Imploded Today When Kim Kardashian Walked Off A Plane

Armenian TV livestreamed Kim Kardashian’s arrival to capital city Yerevan today, the Kardashian family arriving to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Anxious fans lining the hall, awaiting the arrival of Kim, husband Kanye West and sister Khloe.

Cameras from E! will follow the crew and film episodes for the reality TV series, Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Kim has expressed solidarity with Armenian causes in the past. After Turkish Cosmopolitan published the reality TV star on its cover in April, 2011 – Kim was critical of the timing, falling on the month of remembrance for the genocide.

She’s also taken to Twitter to show support.

Today lets all stand together & remember the 1.5 million people who were massacred in the Armenian Genocide. April 24th, 1915. #NEVERFORGET

New York Times writer Nicholas Kristof, who’s partly Armenian, has apologized to the community for Kim’s celebrity status, suggesting a rumor should be started she’s actually Turkish.

On behalf of Armenian-Americans, I apologize for Kim Kardashian. Let’s start a rumor that she’s actually Turkish.

Hostilities continue between the two countries, stemming from the fact Turkey doesn’t recognize the killing of an estimated 1.5 million ethnic Armenians under the Ottoman Empire as genocide. Also, Turkey is hesitant to acknowledge the full extent of crimes against Armenians.

The U.S. government doesn’t recognize the event as a genocide but 43 states do.
