Congresswoman Offers Explanation For ‘Worst Park Job Ever’
Eleanor Holmes Norton, the congressional delegate from Washington, D.C., gave an explanation Thursday for what some are calling the worst park job ever.
Norton told FOX5 she was late for a television interview and she doesn’t normally park in that area of the capitol. She blamed construction in the area for forcing her to make the six-point turn she would have needed to execute in order to park correctly. She didn’t quite make that turn.
“Don’t worry! I have signed up for parking lessons and I’m even thinking about uprgading to one of those self-parking cars,” Norton told the TV station.
The video of the parking fiasco surfaced Wednesday after an anonymous tipster sent it to a reporter at Roll Call. According to the video’s narrators, Norton repeatedly hit the red SUV in the parking spot next to her while attempting unsuccessfully to park in the angled parking spot.
“If she leaves it like that, that’s the worst parking job I’ve ever witnessed,” one of the anonymous narrators said.
The video showed Norton walking away from her car one time, but then turning around to come back and give the park job another shot. Instead, she appears to grab something from the car she forgot and walk away without fixing the botched parking attempt.
“If she parks like that, she should not be a member of Congress anymore,” one of the video’s narrators said jokingly.
