Buzzkill: Democrat Mayor Bans America’s Oldest Brewery At Inaugural Party

Democrat Tom Wolf banned one of the shining examples of Pennsylvanian greatness at his inaugural party, Yuengling beer.

The brewery fell out of the soon-to-be governor’s good graces for supporting right-to-work policies. The issue started two years ago. At the time, brewery president, Richard Yuengling Jr., now 74, became a target of unions for his support of right-to-work laws. They believe a worker should have the right to choice whether to join a union, while Wolf advocates for mandatory union membership.

“There’s a bureaucrat in this transition team that does not like Dick Yuengling because of his stance that he took in defending Governor Corbett on right to work a few years back,” Republican Rep. Michael Vereb, told News Max.

“Yuengling employs Pennsylvanians. It’s America’s oldest brewery. It’s the economic driver in Pottsville, not to mention that whole region,” Vereb continued. “He takes care of his employees. He’s not unionized, and frankly, neither is Tom Wolf’s cabinet company.”

Vereb went on to say that, “there is a specific restriction and request to not have Yuengling product there.”

Wolf representative, Beth Melena, told The Philadelphia Inquirer, “We met our beverage needs, and we have a variety of choices for attendees from a number of breweries, including Pennsylvania-based breweries.”

Melena would not elaborate further on the issue.
