Is Obama waging a war on the stay-at-home mom?

In a recent speech in Rhode Island, President Obama furthered his agenda to expand the government with state-run (aka taxpayer-spending) pre-school or child care. He not only pushed his agenda but managed to criticize the choice of stay-at-home mothers (and fathers).

“Sometimes, someone, usually Mom, leaves the workplace to stay home with the kids, which then leaves her earning a lower wage for the rest of her life as a result,” he said. “That’s not a choice we want Americans to make.”

Perhaps, the President was making the case that parents who can’t afford child care are forced economically to stay at home. We all make choices in how we raise our kids. But he didn’t actually say those words. He implied that being a stay-at-home mother is a negative thing because it leads to lower earnings later in life.

Is this Obama’s new war on women–the stay-at-home mom?

In a joint study by Forbes and TheBump.com , 84% of working women preferred staying home to raise their children to concentrating on the success of their careers. Out of 1,000 women surveyed, 67 percent of whom were working mothers and 33 percent of whom stayed at home, only 10 percent of stay-at-home moms regretted giving up their jobs and 19 percent said they would be happier if still working. But nearly half of all working moms believed they would be happier if they stayed at home to raise their children. This study contradicts the President’s remarks that women, if given the choice, wouldn’t want to give up their careers or even financial security to raise their children.

Is the stay-at-home mother or father getting in the way of the President’s agenda to require all children to be in government-funded child care?

Is this a part of the agenda by this administration to increase the Nanny State and win that “war on poverty?”

Perhaps, the stay-at-home mom choice stands in the way of the Cloward-Piven strategy?

When the President states, “That’s not a choice we want Americans to make”, perhaps he really means it.
