Input and ‘Support’ For Rick Perry

avatar

I received an email from Texas Governor Rick Perry yesterday, asking for my input and support:

Bob,

We need your immediate input and support.

You are among a handful of Republicans chosen to take part in RickPAC’s new project.

RickPAC is dedicated to electing conservatives who will work to secure our nation’s border, reduce the debt for future generations, and – unlike so many in Washington – focus on achieving results.

Your answers to our new Take Back America Survey will help shape and guide our approach to electing strong conservative candidates across the country.

With so much at stake, and less than 65 days left till Election Day it is critically important for you to come forward to take our Take Back America Survey and make your voice heard.

Please, complete our Take Back America Survey today!

If you can’t complete the survey at this time, please make an urgent contribution of $5 to help RickPAC elect conservatives who will achieve real results, unlike the failed leadership that is all too common in Washington, D.C.

Thank you for your support,

Rick Perry

I definitely had some “input and support” for Governor Perry, though it wasn’t the kind he was looking for.  Here is my reply I sent him:

Dear. Governor Perry:

I believe I can provide assistance to you worth far more than your survey or with a $5 contribution. It’s some free advice: start acting like a conservative.

Though you’ve done some good things for conservatism, and without going into some of your missteps that are a few years old, your recent behavior has been very concerning for conservatives.

For example, a couple of months ago you rightly compared homosexual behavior to alcoholism, in that a person can escape both self-destructive behaviors, if they have the will to do so. Unfortunately, you then backtracked on that with the “mainstream” media and all but disavowed your statement. In a day and age characterized not only by relentless attacks from the Left, but squish-like behavior from the so-called “Republicans” the American people are looking to in order to save this country, we do NOT need more retreating on important social issues.

Also, I recently became aware that you hired a couple of conservative-bashing RINOs, Steve Schmidt and Henry Barbour for your campaign. In case you weren’t aware, Schmidt was on the RINO John McCain campaign in 2008 and trashed Sarah Palin–the only hope McCain’s campaign had of getting conservative support. Barbour is also behind the idiotic campaign to brand Chris McDaniel a racist in Mississippi.

You are NOT getting off on a good foot to impress conservatives and get conservative support for your campaign. If you think you can impress liberals and win your way to the presidency in 2016 with liberal support and alienating conservatives, by all means, continue what you are doing.

But if you truly want the support of conservatives…start acting like one.

Best regards,

My fellow conservatives, let’s make sure “Republicans” understand loud and clear: we will NOT anymore support squishes and betrayers of our values and principles. If they’re going to veer Left and attempt to curry favor with liberals, then they’re spitting on our support and should be treated accordingly.
