Rand Paul: Obama Has Been Arming ISIS Terrorists
On Sunday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said that ISIS, the Sunni militants currently sweeping through the nation of Iraq basically unobstructed, has rapidly achieved power and captured numerous cities because the United States is arming their allies in Syria.
“I think one of the reasons why ISIS has been emboldened is because we have been arming their allies. We have been allied with ISIS in Syria,” he asserted on CNN’s State of the Union.
Senator Paul further explained that Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), an al-Qaeda offshoot, is currently collaborating with the Syrian rebels that are attempting to topple the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. And the Obama Administration has been reportedly aiding the Syrian opposition by providing them with unspecified weaponry.
“That is the real contradiction to this whole policy,” Paul warned. “If we were to get rid of Assad,” it would become a “jihadist wonderland in Syria.”
It is also quite possible that the arms being sent to Syria are currently being funneled to ISIS in Iraq. So, as ISIS attempts to establish an Islamic caliphate spanning from Syria to Iraq, American assistance could be contributing to their brutal advance.
“We have been fighting alongside al-Qaeda, fighting alongside ISIS,” the senator from Kentucky noted. “ISIS is now emboldened and in two countries. But here’s the anomaly. We’re with ISIS in Syria. We’re on the same side of the war. So, those who want to get involved to stop ISIS in Iraq are allied with ISIS in Syria. That is real contradiction to this whole policy.”
Some are also concerned about the nations of Jordan and Lebanon being drawn into the conflict as ISIS’s next military targets in their insidious delusions of Muslim grandeur, and Obama’s unilateral and reckless policies are potentially putting the entire region at tremendous risk.
“I don’t think ISIS in in the middle of the battle right now thinking, ‘Hmm, I think we’re going to send inter-continental ballistic missiles to America,’” Paul stated, downplaying the threat to the U.S. However, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the insurgent group ISIS and the terrorist that many are now calling the most dangerous man in the world, issued some cryptically chilling words when he was released from a U.S. detention camp in 2009. He allegedly said, “I’ll see you guys in New York.”
Regardless of our immediate national security interests, it is almost never a good idea to arm radical extremist Islamofascist factions. The only thing they hate more than each other is America. In this case, we may in fact be playing right in to their hands as they violently fight to establish an expansive Muslim region from which to launch additional 9-11 scale — or worse — terrorist attacks on American soil.
