Paraphilia Postscript: ‘Civil Rights’ for Sex Confusion

avatar

As some of us suspected, the “T” in LGBT might be turning out to be a bridge too far for those promoting the homosexual agenda. Two hard-hitting articles posted this past week that I wanted to bring to your attention. The first is by Mercatornet.com’s Michael Cook. Here’s his title and subtitle:

The transgender movement is not the new civil rights frontier
A leading psychiatrist has dumped cold water on the successor to same-sex marriage.

Here is just one section of the article — the entire piece is recommended reading:

The complete normality of transexualism is fast becoming the new orthodoxy. However, writing in the Wall Street Journal last week, a leading psychiatrist, Dr Paul McHugh, described this as a terrible error.

“This intensely felt sense of being transgendered constitutes a mental disorder in two respects. The first is that the idea of sex misalignment is simply mistaken—it does not correspond with physical reality. The second is that it can lead to grim psychological outcomes…”

Dr McHugh, an emeritus professor at Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore, and a member of the president’s bioethics commission under George W. Bush, has been an outspoken critic of sex reassignment surgery for a long time. In the 1960s Johns Hopkins was one of the first institutions in the US to offer it. But after studying whether it actually helped people who felt uncomfortable and distressed by their biological sex, Dr McHugh persuaded the university to shut it down.

“Most of the surgically treated patients described themselves as ‘satisfied’ by the results, but their subsequent psycho-social adjustments were no better than those who didn’t have the surgery. And so at Hopkins we stopped doing sex-reassignment surgery, since producing a ‘satisfied’ but still troubled patient seemed an inadequate reason for surgically amputating normal organs.”

There has been an outcry in the media at the publication of Dr McHugh’s article. Slate described the author as “notorious for his outdated, anti-LGBTQ views”. GLAAD, a LGBTQ lobbying group, complained that his views were “outdated and factually inaccurate”.

The other article is by Joy Pullmann at The Federalist. Here is her title and subtitle:

Discrimination Is Healthy And Normal—Sex Confusion Is Not
Speaking truth to LGBTQ power in a fight over ‘non-discrimination’ ordinances.

It wasn’t easy to pick a section to excerpt from — she has four subheadings: “Stop Contradicting Yourself,” “Emotion Is Not An Argument,” “Being Judgmental Is Necessary To Live,” and the part below is from “The LGBTQ View Is Anti-Science.” Here’s Pullmann:

Except for a tiny number of people with gene disabilities, every human being has either XX or XY chromosomes embedded in every cell of his or her body. That makes each of us biologically male or female, no matter how we feel about that fact. To believe otherwise is essentially a psychiatric disorder. Dr. Paul McHugh, retired from psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recently likened transsexuality to anorexia and bulimia, since all are disorders in which the individual substitutes his preference for reality. He writes, “These disorders occur in subjects who have come to believe that some of their psycho-social conflicts or problems will be resolved if they can change the way that they appear to others. Such ideas work like ruling passions in their subjects’ minds and tend to be accompanied by a solipsistic argument. For the transgendered, this argument holds that one’s feeling of ‘gender’ is a conscious, subjective sense that, being in one’s mind, cannot be questioned by others. The individual often seeks not just society’s tolerance of this ‘personal truth’ but affirmation of it.”

Both articles are important and worth your time. You can find them at Mercatornet.com and TheFederalist.com.

Hating Jesus: The American Left's War on Christianity

Matt Barber with Paul Hair

The secular left doesn’t merely have a disagreement with Christianity. These are not people with whom one may reason, compromise or even disagree. They are dedicated to evil. They demand nothing less than the abolition of the biblical worldview, and the destruction of Christ’s followers right along with it.

Now is the time to fight back. If you are someone, Christian or not, who refuses to see Christianity wiped out (like it ever could be) and your children indoctrinated into pure evil, then sitting on the sidelines is no longer an option.
