How Liberalism Violates All 10 Commandments

One of my readers, we’ll call him Moses, is the publisher of a mainstream newspaper in California. He wrote me the other day with an insightful observation. Since Moses works in one of the most liberal industries, in one of the most liberal states in the union, I won’t divulge his real name. We don’t want Moses tarred, feathered and banished to Oklahoma with a scarlet “C,” for Christian, emblazoned on his Harris Tweed sport coat. (Note: I have antipathy toward neither Oklahoma – I once lived there – nor Harris Tweed, though I do recommend against wearing Harris Tweed in Oklahoma. Especially in the summer.)

“Matt, think about this,” wrote Moses. “Every one of the Ten Commandments is explicitly violated by a principle of the left.”

So I thought about it.

And you know what? Slap me with a Red River catfish if Moses ain’t exactly right.

To be sure, as individuals, we’ve all violated many, if not most or all, of the 10 Commandments. In our fallen, sinful state we have an inherent propensity to rebel against God’s perfect and holy will for our lives. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Thank God for making available a path, narrow as it is, for eternal redemption and salvation through Christ Jesus.

Still, there is a difference between individual sins and a philosophical worldview that embraces those sins as a matter of course. Modern liberalism – “progressivism,” leftism, secularism, pick your poison – is built upon, by and for sin itself. Liberalism’s entire fabric is constructed by precept planks that are soaked through and stained by man’s arrogant rebellion against our Creator God.

In sum, liberalism is folly. It represents man’s futile attempt to disorder God’s natural order. It’s the unholy brainchild of God’s very first enemy, given by that enemy to God’s favored creation, us, with the sole purpose of destroying that creation.

Unfortunately, we’re all too happy to help. Liberalism just formalizes the process, making sin public policy.

Volumes could be penned on the myriad ways in which the central tenets of liberalism violate each of the Ten Commandments. The following is a much truncated analysis:

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17):

1. Thou Shalt Have No Gods Before Me.

At worst, liberalism denies the very existence of God in the forms of atheism and secularism, while, at best, it adopts that wonderfully “inclusive” blasphemy called religious pluralism. Pluralism presumes to give the false gods of false religions equal footing and denies Christ as He defined Himself: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Liberal “Christianity” falls under this category. It’s pluralism with a Christian stamp.

Secular humanism, liberalism’s prevailing false religion, denies God altogether and crowns man as king over himself and the measure of all things. “Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die.”

2. Thou Shalt Not Make Graven Images.

We’re talking idolatry here. Liberalism is built on it. First, there’s literal idolatry (the worship of man-made idols, animals or inanimate objects) enjoyed by our New Age friends. And then there’s everything else: pantheistic environmentalism, the idols of “reproductive freedom,” “sexual liberation and equality,” etc.

Essentially, liberalism worships the created over the Creator. Liberalism also worships the sins of the flesh (see Commandments No. 1, 6 and 7).

3. Thou Shalt Not Take the Lord’s Name in Vain.

To deny God is to take the Lord’s name in vain. To deny God as He defines Himself is to take the Lord’s name in vain. To misrepresent God, to call other gods God or to deny the deity of Christ is to take the Lord’s name in vain. Liberalism does this and much more. Many liberals also mock Christ, Christianity and Christians. They revile the exclusive nature of Jesus, His commands and His faithful followers. They hate truth.

4. Remember to Keep Holy the Sabbath.

This one is a bit tricky as it is widely understood to fall under the Jewish ceremonial law, not the moral law – the old covenant, not the new. Christ Himself healed (worked) on the Sabbath. That said, many Christians still view Sunday as the Sabbath and do, indeed, keep it holy. Not all liberals (there are certainly liberal Jews), but liberalism at large denies the Sabbath any significance whatsoever, much less a holy significance.

5. Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother.

Liberalism seeks to supplant parents with “progressive” government. It diminishes parental rights and encourages children to rebel against the antiquated conventions held by mom and dad. It denies that children even need a mother and father and bristles at the “heteronormative” lack of “gender neutrality” inherent within the very words “mother and father.” The sin-centered, counter-biblical notion of “gay marriage” desecrates God’s design for true marriage and family and is intended to undermine these cornerstone institutions.

6. Thou Shalt Not Murder.

Abortion, euthanasia, “pro-choice,” “reproductive rights,” “death with dignity.” Need I say more? Sacrosanct is the liberal rite of passage for a feminist mother to slaughter her own child in the womb. Fifty-five million dead babies later, liberals continue to worship at the pagan altar of “choice” (see Commandments No. 1 and 2).

7. Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery.

This means all sexual immorality as identified in the scriptures, to include marital infidelity, fornication, homosexuality, bestiality, incest, et al. Liberalism, it seems, embraces all perversions of God’s design for human sexuality. Central to liberalism is moral relativism. When it comes to sex, you can do no wrong because there is no wrong.

8. Thou Shalt Not Steal.

With class warfare as its fuel, liberalism embraces the redistributionist philosophies of Marx and Engels. Liberalism thrives on theft. Like some completely incompetent and inefficient Robin Hood, liberal government steals from the middle class to give to the poor, thereby ensuring that liberal politicians remain in power and everyone else remains miserable.

9. Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness.

I give you Saul Alinsky from his Rules for Radicals: “The third rule of ethics of means and ends is that in war the end justifies almost any means.” As we’ve learned from Barack “you can keep your insurance” Obama, that includes lying. Liberals lie. That’s what they do. The ends justify the means. Bearing false witness about detractors of liberalism is par for the course.

10. Thou Shalt Not Covet.

Again, liberalism uses man’s inherent covetousness as the driving force behind all liberal economic policies. Creating a political climate of economic envy and class warfare gives liberal government the cover needed to take wealth from those who produce and redistribute it to those who don’t. Not only does liberalism violate this commandment, liberalism commands its adherents to do the exact opposite. “Thou shalt covet.”

As Satan “masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14), so, too, does liberalism masquerade as good. It’s deceptively packaged in flowery euphemisms and feel-good sound bites that promise “equality,” “tolerance” and libertine notions of “social justice.”

Yet, in reality, liberalism, in both philosophical and practical terms, simply signifies man’s predisposition to “call evil good and good evil.” It’s sin, all dolled up and doled out.

Ronald Reagan once quipped, “I have wondered at times what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress.”

If the Gipper had lived another couple decades, he might’ve found out.

The 10 Commandments violate the Constitution. The first commandment tells us we shall have no other Gods before the God of the Bible. The first amendment, if nothing else, allows us to worship whoever or whatever we want. Thou shalt not us the Lord’s name in vain flies in the face of free speech.

    • tionico

You fail to understand that, when this nation was formed, it was assumed that everyone was a moral person, already self-governed by the moral standards set forth in the christian bible, and that “religion” meant more which “flavour” or denomination of some christian faith one would follow. It was more a matter of each one being free to jion the baptist or the methodist or the congregationalist or the roman catholic church, and not be FORCED to operate under the government (civil and ecclesiastical) of only one, as practiced in England, France, Holland, Scotland….. this was not ever seen as a license to worship whoever or whatever we want.

How does using the Lord’s Name in vain fly in the face of free speech, as, in lght of what I just wrote, every man was already self-governed by the moral standards set out in the christian bible?
Lastly, those Ten Commandments predate the Constitution by a few years….. so how could they :fly in the face of” the Constitution when it had not yet been written?

    • Belinda Duras

no it does not it was written by Godly men who in their minds could not even concieve of why any fool would want to worship anything else but God to them religion meant serving God and God alone. wow have you fallen for a bunch of baloony there

      • iconoclast12

Here is a quote from Thomas Jefferson: Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear. — Letter to Peter Carr, 10 Aug 1787. Also the Treaty of Tripoli, signed into law by John Adams tells us the US is in no way a Christian Nation. By the way, can you provide a quote to back up the founders “could not even conceive of why any fool would want to worship anything else but God.”

What relevance does any of this have with how we live in a pluralistic democratic society?

    None.

    • Doug Bristow

Believe it or not there are still folks in this country that have not sold out to Satan. To us these things are still relevant and will be for the rest of eternity.

It will quickly become relevant for you when you stand before God.

      • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

“When”? Don’t be so hasty, Doug… you haven’t even shown that knowledge of such a god is possible, much less the case.

        • tionico

not his job, nor mine. God has revealed Himself to all, but only some will be humble enough at open their eyes and SEE him. Seems you are not amongst that crowd, but no matter. I cannot prove God’s existence, nor that anyone can know Him. Only HE can do that.

          • charles

actually you can prove GOD exist. the fact JEWS still exist not to mention GODS word. both these have been the focus of satan to eliminate. what he has accomplished is to infiltrate the church and water down the Gospel message.

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

What does either of those things have to do with the claim that a god exists?

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

More baseless claims to unverifiable knowledge.

      • JC

Satan? What? Please go get an education that does not deal with an ancient text. There is no Satan – if Satan exists then he is far more powerful than the Christian god because he wins every day.

Perhaps you might be interested in the “Iliad” and the “Odyssey?”

        • William 1

          HE DOES NOT!

        • tionico

satan is NOT “winning every day”. And we who have read the entire story know that, when its all done but the shouting, he will have lost utterly, as the upstart halfwit rebel he is. And yes, he does indeed exist. Not many have an accurate understanding of who/what he is…. mostly hollywierd claptrap, and hellfire/brimstone teaching exclusively.

          • Belinda Duras

ah let the liberal rant on, like all trolls they relish in the false idea evil wins. silly losers you soo about to find out different as GOD restores America back to her righteous heritage very soon now. wittle wiberals can’t think straight with all those mush commie ideas in their brains

        • LABobE

All churches beat the devil good, but they are very carefull not to kill him!

          • jude

In the end God will bind him and cast him into hell forever.

          • Anthony Burkes

Does your STUPIDITY know any bounds? It certainly appears not.

          • Belinda Duras

nah it’s much more fun to tortue that fool under our feet as we put the world back to rights against his imbecilic nonsense.

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

            (your fascism is noted)

        • Sagebrush6

Oh JC, you’re in deep doo doo now.

        • jude

When The God of Creation stands at the gate of Heaven and asks you, “Why should I let you in my Heaven?” What will you answer?
You start now by accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and read and study the word of God. And when you have a wonderful relationship with Him your life will become more abundant toward loving others and getting out of yourself. I live every day this way and when troubles come, I look to my Lord and my God to carry my burdens. I am almost 70 and I have had many awful down and out experiences, but knowing and trusting a loving God has brought me through many times with miracles. I would not lie to you. Tonight begin getting on your knees in your quiet bedroom and ask God to come into your heart and listen to Him. He loves you and wants the best for you. The devil will try to deceive you. Just say? Devil I command you in the name of Jesus Christ, Leave! Then pray for Jesus to surround you with His protecting arms of love. Pray always asking God to send the Comforter.

          • lonebear

            That was awesome

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

No… it was the same pathetic nonsense that it’s always been.

        • John OMalia

          Well, he’s won you over.

        • Belinda Duras

really? i hear that creep speaking thru you. honey NO one is as powerful as God and you best tell your master that cause he knows he’s going to the lake of fire soon

      • lonebear

You said a mouth full. I wonder to myself what it will be like to be a fly on the wall so to speak when the brutal reality hammer falls on the heads of all the libs and unbelievers. I am pretty sure it is going to be something like the proverbial “deer in the headlights look”

        • Doug Bristow

It will indeed be unfortunate for them unless they repent while they still have time.

          • lonebear

All we can do is keep trying to tell them. It would be so easy to blow them off because it is so hard to listen to their delusion. But I don’t want to get to the judgment and have God take exception with me because once upon a time there was a liberal that I blew off and then come to find out if I had told them they would have listened.

        • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

So… considering that you think that our lives are worthless, why should we tolerate you living in our country?

          • lonebear

Dude have you been checked for mental illness? What in the hell are you talking about? I didn’t say one word about anyone’s life worth. You need to go back and re do your troll training. It might help you ruffle people’s feathers a little more if you manage to actually maintain some degree of coherent conversation

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

I take your phrase “when the brutal reality hammer falls on the heads of all the libs and unbelievers” to mean the wrath-of-god end-times genocidal narrative or other such hideous nonsense. If so, your expectation and support of such exterminationist madness makes you patently unfit to live in a civilized society.

          • lonebear

Feed your delusional BS to someone that might actually give it any validity and move on. See that is problem with your “ilk” (yes I read some of your other posts) Your ilk doesn’t have the presence of mind to actually see the point. You have over emotional knee jerk reactions to everything you hear and you hear what you want to begin with so your reaction is pointless to start with. I have to laugh at the fact that you all like to use the same buzz words which is why ya’ll need to go back to troll training. If I were the word ilk or my personal favorite “patently” I would be telling someone to give it a rest. You all scream about how the conservatives want to rob you of your rights and freedom of expression but every single one of you acts just like the next mindless one of you repeating the same endless meaningless spew, trying to intimidate others with your self perceived intellectual superiority. In reality you are a well programmed, mindless drone that needs to wake up and get some mental help. You are a classic example of how the “phrase” “liberalism is a mental illness”came to be and you suck as a troll.

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

“Your ilk doesn’t have the presence of mind to actually see the point.”

—He’s more of that far-right christian dehumanization of others.

“You have over emotional knee jerk reactions to everything you hear and you hear what you want to begin with so your reaction is pointless to start with.”

—Says the projecting man who is here frothing wildly at the mouth; but what else should we expect from one who venerates a genocidal god?

“I have to laugh at the fact that you all like to use the same buzz words…”

—What we learned from Soros and Satan, right? lol

“You all scream about how the conservatives want to rob you of your rights and freedom of expression…”

—Which given the agenda of the religious right is demonstratively true.

“…but every single one of you acts just like the next mindless one of you repeating the same endless meaningless spew, trying to intimidate others with your self perceived *intellectual superiority*. In reality you are a *well programmed*, *mindless drone* that needs to wake up and get some mental help. You are a classic example of how the “phrase” “*liberalism is a mental illness*”came to be and you suck as a troll.”

            —Speaking of buzz words… lol

          • lonebear

Save it for someone who has time to waste and move on

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

I’ll take that as a concession… on behalf of yourself and your whore of a god.

          • lonebear

If that is what works for you run with it. Be Blessed

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

I hope one day that your faith falls stillborn to the floor.

          • lonebear

I hope one day the Holy Spirit falls all over you and you find out what peace of soul and real love are. In fact I am praying for it right now

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

You and your fake god have failed, and always will.

            Toodles!

    • William 1

Republic not democratic! America is A REPUBLIC GET THAT STRAIGHT!

      • 5465vick

Unfortunately we have a republic in name only. The government has been taken over by a league of Marxists. Obama rules as he sees fit, not as the constitution requires.

        • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

On what parallel world do you reside? Our Obama is a center-right squish who kow-tows all to often to the fascist gibberish of Teapublicans.

          • 5465vick

WHAT!!?? The fascist gibberish you speak of comes from people like George Soros. While the fascist progressives have infiltrated the republican party, they have complete control of the democrat party.
How do you get center-right? He is a corporatist but not center-right. A center right politician would be pushing for smaller government and more personal control for American citizens. Obama thinks that the government needs to control everything for everyone. He is a big government politician hell bent on increasing the size of governments role in every American citizens life. That I believe is called a nanny state. Just look at the stupid video that was released a couple of years ago about that fictional woman needing the government to help her do everything from her birth to her death. Obama thinks that people aren’t smart enough or motivated enough to help themselves. I believe you are living on an alternate world!

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

“The fascist gibberish you speak of comes from people like George Soros.”

—It’s a Sorospiracy! (disregard the Kochs behind the right-wing curtain) lol

            “While the fascist progressives…”

—Unless you’re talking about Teddy Roosevelt, this gibberish is a non-starter.

“A center right politician would be pushing for smaller government and more personal control for American citizens.”

—Sorry to break this to you, but NOTHING about conservatism focuses on either one of those principles. Instead, right-wing praxis revolves around diminishing democratic engagement and empowerment in the service of establishing/maintaining steep social hierarchies… hence your side’s penchant for rampant militarism, girding the police/penal state, squashing workers/womens/minorities rights, etc. Obama has not stood up strongly against conservative aims for mass-inequality… hence his center-right designation.

“Obama thinks that the government needs to control everything for everyone.”

—Not like those teapublicans who wish to use state power to force pregnant women to bear unwanted children… oh, oops.

“He is a big government politician hell bent on increasing the size of governments role in every American citizens life.”

—Nevermind that the size of the federal workforce has sharply decreased under Obama.

“Just look at the stupid video that was released a couple of years ago about that fictional woman needing the government to help her do everything from her birth to her death. Obama thinks that people aren’t smart enough or motivated enough to help themselves.”

—Smarts and motivation are not enough to survive in a corporation-dominated world that exploits every avenue of our lives; as such, we need a public arm to help us survive this toxic environment.

Pretty simple and sound, really… unless you are one that LIKES exploiting people. Are you?

          • 5465vick

First off I have no side. I think the republicans are just as rotten as the democrats.
You have a good point about the Koch brothers. I will agree with you, but Soros is a rotten person. Have you read his history?
As for the true conservative principles, they do stand for a smaller government. These republicans in office now are nothing but neocons. As for the mass inequality you speak of, Obama stands for the very inequality you speak of. His constant spending of taxpayer money on all of his failed green projects has allowed many of his pals and campaign bundlers to make a lot of money while the taxpayers paid for all of this nonsense. He has only stood up to those that oppose his policies.
Oops what? Yes republicans use state power just as Obama and the democrats do. Look at his ACA. Why are people being forced to buy these policies. These policies contain coverage that many people don’t need. Maternal coverage is required and you are forced to purchase it even though you will never use it because you can’t have anymore children.
You can reduce the size of government and still be a big government person. What about all of these czars he has appointed? They are zombies he appoints to do his bidding. They answer only to him. Why does he need all of these government employees when he has all of these agencies to do his dirty work.
People don’t need the government to take care of themselves. Only the disabled and poor need relief. A person that is healthy and intelligent has no need for the government. Government should protect it’s citizens, the disabled and poor, and mainly do what the constitution allows.

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

“First off I have no side.”

–You positions and rhetoric are straight-up right-wing talking points; be honest with yourself at least.

“As for the true conservative principles, they do stand for a smaller government.”

–I call a No True Scotsman here. Even if conservatism really holds to small government principles, I have to ask… small government FOR WHOM? Not for women, minorities, LGBT citizens and others who bear the brunt of right-wing social control measures.

“His constant spending of taxpayer money on all of his failed green projects has allowed many of his pals and campaign bundlers to make a lot of money while the taxpayers paid for all of this nonsense.”

–Even if we were to assume that this stimulus spending was a failure (it wasn’t, though not enough in the end), tis better to drop funds into sustainability projects rather than a few wars, huh?

“Look at his ACA. Why are people being forced to buy these policies. These policies contain coverage that many people don’t need. Maternal coverage is required and you are forced to purchase it even though you will never use it because you can’t have anymore children.”

–Risk pools encompass many different lives with a diverse array of health care needs… personalization of policies can only go so far. But don’t fret: the requirements of ACA mostly involve what companies are required to offer/provide to you; this keeps you from being sold a junk policy.

“You can reduce the size of government and still be a big government person. What about all of these czars he has appointed?”

–Fewer than in previous administrations… and if reducing the size of government isn’t evidence of not being big-government, then nothing is.

“Why does he need all of these government employees when he has all of these agencies to do his dirty work.”

–Those agencies are staffed by… government employees, now fewer since he took office.

“People don’t need the government to take care of themselves. Only the disabled and poor need relief. A person that is healthy and intelligent has no need for the government. Government should protect it’s citizens, the disabled and poor, and mainly do what the constitution allows.”

–So I take it you don’t enjoy basic workers rights, basic food safety regulations, financial oversight, etc? When did you first come to the point where you completely devalued your and your family’s lives?

          • 5465vick

It matters not what I say to you, you will twist it around to believe what you want. The only thing I will say to you is that just because you read what a person writes on these sites, does not mean you know everything about them. You take my comments and write gibberish about there true meanings. You do not know me nor will you ever.
Obama is not a center right politician no matter what your beliefs may be, I do not intend to go tit for tat withy you as no matter what I write, you will always come up with your own misinformed comments.

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

“The only thing I will say to you is that just because you read what a person writes on these sites, does not mean you know everything about them. You take my comments and write gibberish about there true meanings. You do not know me nor will you ever.”

–Is this your way of telling me that you are a dishonest conversant? Well then… thanks for letting me know.

      • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

We’re not talking about ancient Greece or Rome: in our present world, we are considered a liberal democracy.

    • tionico

we are not a democratic society…. minor detail, but we are a democratic republic. Democracy is the tyranny of the 51%. A republic is a nation under the riule lf law. Thus, in a republic, even 80% of the population cannot decide contrary to the clear written rule of the law as accepted.

      • 5465vick

Yes we are a republic, in name only. Obama has thrown out the constitution and rules by decree. Remember only 51% re-elected him. That may be the tyranny you speak of.

        • Reddkl

          54% – look it up.

          • 5465vick

Obama had 51.1% of the vote
            Romney had 47.2%.
You need to look it up!

          • LABobE

Do you low information voters realize we don’t elect a president by popular vote? Obama got 332 (62%) EC votes to Romney’s 206 (38%) EC votes which is a LANDSLIDE!

          • 5465vick

I am not a low info voter. Yes we are a republic and we elect a president by the electoral college, not the popular vote. This is what allowed Bush to beat Gore in 2000. Democrats have recently stated they would like to get rid of the electoral college making us a democracy rather than a republic! Not a good idea.
Apparently you are a liberal that thinks he/she knows everything about a person they have never met. Next time instead of assuming you know someone you should try to talk with them first!
As for your landslide, yes Obama did receive the vast majority of the electoral college vote. He did not receive a mandate though due to the popular vote. Many of those that voted for him a second time are now regretting it.

          • Anthony Burkes

No DOUCHE, you are the low information voter, and DOUCHEbama only won by 1 percentage point, even with the Electoral College. Where he came up short is in hard core blue states that weren’t even in play.

I was not talking about ancient Greece or Rome; in modern parlance, we are considered a liberal democracy. Your ‘minor detail’ however (a common one among far-right-wingers), does illustrate a clear problem with your ilk: a hankering for authoritarian order, and a clear distrust of governance in common. Do you think your veneration of an unalterable ‘rule of law’ stems from your belief in divine scripture?

We don’t join with them and we try and bring their evilness to light. They hate the light, but want to bind everyone to darkness.
If we say nothing and go along with whatever they say and do we become them. We can pray for those who speak the truth on our behalf to stand against these evil doers. God loves the prayers of the faithful and he hears us and He can move mountains…I’ve seen that happen during my lifetime. So start being a faithful prayer warrior.

You asked how we live in a pluralistic democratic society. I was giving you an example how to do that. It’s not all that complicated unless you’re a progressive liberal and then you wouldn’t understand what I was saying.

Definition of Barber: He is a married, successful man (let’s check with his wife and children), who obsesses about gay sex, minute after minute, hour after hour, day after day – and then finds a way to blame others for his personal world falling apart.

His followers posses an IQ of 80 or less, like he does.

Many Christians know they are sinners. That’s why they give their lives to Christ. They are fully aware of their sins. Liberals do not care about their sins. To them everything goes and no one should be held accountable for breaking God’s laws.
As for Barber’s thoughts just how do you know what he obsesses about? Every time I try to converse on these web sites, liberals always profess to know everything about everyone. They always know just how a person acts, thinks, believes, performs, reacts, and lives his/her life. Tell me just how does a liberal know everything about a person they have never met. It has to be some kind of a gift. I could never tell someone they are living their lives wrong. Especially if I have never met this person.

You need to separate church and state in your mind. You are arguing against the law of God with the law of the land

      • tionico

church, state, and family are the three “spheres” defined by God. They are separate, but do overlap. Government cannot enter the personal lives of families, say, in the context of education, medical care, diet, finance, etc. Church cannot make enforceable laws governing all men within the region as if they were civil laws. Church and state DO overlap in many areas…… though they are separate, they are not identical. WHY is government even thinking about marriage and how that works? THAT is a violation of God’s laws. HE established that within the sphere of family. WHY is government thinking about what we do/do not put into our mouths? That, again, is a family issue, and in some aspects, a chruch issue (be not drunk with wine…..) State deciding on how property is divided up when a man dies, or when a couple divorce… family matters, not church or state.

And so on down the list.

        • lonebear

You have the same problem Labobe has reading comprehension. You did not understand my original point. Plus I said you can’t argue against God’s law with legal law and your’e arguing against the government now with God’s law. Clear example of why you should separate church and state “in your mind”. I think some people struggle with reading comprehension. The title of the article said How Liberlsm Violates the 10 Commandments and I said because progressivism is really just pc word for evil. I didn’t say anything about the keeping God out of the constitution. But if you want to go there the reason our Forefathers didn’t go to great lengths to keep God out of our constitution. They in fact made the statement that the only way the laws of our land would work would be if they were enforced by Godly ethical men. What they did was go to great lengths to keep the making of the law separate to the government to keep the government from trying to become the God of the people and prevent religious tyranny. You need to study up on your arguments first. Our country was founded by people who fled their country and their government to get away from religious oppression, tyranny, slavery, over taxation. They founded this country with the intent that it be led by Godly people Truly Godly people don’t oppress and hate on others because of religious differences but not hating on others who don’t operate on God’s law but that doesn’t mean they govern in a Godless fashion. They fully intended to let the clergy deal with the the church and the government deal with the law of the land and manage the country. It just wasn’t for the reasons you think. I digress. I never said anything about God being kept out of the constitution to start with

          • LABobE

Did ANY of you people make it to high school? The word “God” does not appear within the text of the Constitution. After spending three-and-a-half months debating and negotiating about what should go into the document that would govern the land, the framers drafted a constitution that is secular. The Declaration of Independence is not a legal document; it is not the U.S. Constitution. Foes of the principle of separation of church and state often refer to the word “Creator” in the Declaration of Independence as proof that the framers of the U.S. Constitution intended for the United States to be ruled by a soveriegn being. Nothing could be further from the truth. The United States Constitution was written and ratified by elected officials representing a coalition of Enlightenment rationalists and evangelical Christians who were deeply concerned about entanglements between religion and government.

          • realaveragejoe

What part of “… or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…” do you not understand? This is the part that you liberals always want to leave out in your empty argument about “separation”.

Who do you believe the founders thought blessed us with liberty?

          • LABobE

Most were deists. They believed in the existence of a supreme being specifically of a creator who does not intervene in the universe & accepted the existence of a creator on the basis of reason but rejected belief in a supernatural deity who interacts with humankind

          • Truth Offends

So, your answer to my question, then is:
The writers, the people, the states that drafted/ratified the US Constitution believed a “creator” blessed us with liberty.

          • LABobE

yes & no. They believed in a creator but he didn’t interact with humankind

          • Truth Offends

The signers of the Declaration of Independence believed Divine Providence could protect them. What do you believe happened in the years following that which would make the founders only about 11 years later believe the “creator” could no longer intervene (interact) with humankind?

          • MikefromNC

You’ve made some interesting (although I believe invalid) points, but this assertion is flat out false. The vast majority of the signers were Christians, some even clergy. And no, Washington was NOT a deist.

          • LABobfromNYC

Deism was a philosophical belief that was widely accepted by the colonial intelligentsia at the time of the American Revolution. Its major tenets included belief in human reason as a reliable means of solving social and political problems and belief in a supreme deity who created the universe to operate solely by natural laws. The supreme God of the Deists removed himself entirely from the universe after creating it. They believed that he assumed no control over it, exerted no influence on natural phenomena, and gave no supernatural revelation to man. A necessary consequence of these beliefs was a rejection of many doctrines central to the Christian religion. Deists did not believe in the virgin birth, divinity, or resurrection of Jesus, the efficacy of prayer, the miracles of the Bible, or even the divine inspiration of the Bible.

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

That’s irrelevant and inapplicable to this matter. We need to originate the blessings to constitutionally deal with them.

        • LABobE

In spite of right-wing Christian attempts to rewrite history to make Jefferson into a Christian, little about his philosophy resembles that of Christianity. Although Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence wrote of the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God, there exists nothing in the Declaration about Christianity.

Although Jefferson believed in a Creator, his concept of it resembled that of the god of deism (the term “Nature’s God” used by deists of the time). With his scientific bent, Jefferson sought to organize his thoughts on religion. He rejected the superstitions and mysticism of Christianity and even went so far as to edit the gospels, removing the miracles and mysticism of Jesus (see The Jefferson Bible) leaving only what he deemed the correct moral philosophy of Jesus.

          • realaveragejoe

I agree, Jefferson was confused about religion. So what? It just goes to show that he could be wrong just like anyone else.

Learn your history before you give an opinion. Go read the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers, the Antifederalist Papers, and while you’re at it you could look up the founders’ letters to each other in which they specifically referenced God and the need for God to guide the actions of man. The first amendment to the Constitution guarantees freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

          Like this one?

The whole history of these books [the Gospels] is so defective and doubtful that it seems vain to attempt minute enquiry into it: and such tricks have been played with their text, and with the texts of other books relating to them, that we have a right, from that cause, to entertain much doubt what parts of them are genuine. In the New Testament there is internal evidence that parts of it have proceeded from an extraordinary man; and that other parts are of the fabric of very inferior minds. It is as easy to separate those parts, as to pick out diamonds from dunghills. -Thomas Jefferson, letter to John Adams, January 24, 1814

What do you think the “Justice” System is based on and Rule of Law (Higher Laws/God’s Laws)? What do you think “Laws of Nature and nature’s God” mean? What do you think “Natural Rights from the Creator” means? Providence? In the Year of the Lord?????? ETC. The Declaration clarified the philosophy of the Founders which is embedded throughout the Constitution. The very words, Civil Rights and Bill of Rights come from concepts of Common Law (Christian concept) and Natural Law Theory which posits a God ALWAYS.

Your understanding of Lockean philosophy which makes up over 80 % of the Constitution is laughable. But then you are irrational and believe everything came from nothing, and that sodomy is Natural and a Right from God. With a mind like that, is there any “wonder” that you are devoid of Reason.

We finally saw the open, unmasked faces of the Satanists in Texas last year during the final debates on the abortion legislation, and they were as abominable as it’s possible to imagine. Openly hailing Satan, these “given over” souls carried human waste intended as projectiles to use against legislators, and screeched their demonic, deranged screams in the barbarism characteristic of their degraded world view during proceedings. Breaking the law by disrupting a public meeting, they fortunately only delayed the forces of good pushing back. But we now know what spirit animates them.

What about the rest of the 613 Commands, Statues and Ordinances?
If , as the church says , Jesus fulfilled the commands then how can one even bring the 10 up??? Better yet How could he fulfill the 613??

  • tionico

One issue you utterly fail to address: those Ten Commandments are given to each of us as how each of us should live. They in no way command ME to tell YOU how to live. the head of every man is Christ, not me, not government, not civil laws. Thus, to provlaim that all liberals are anti-God is false. You’ve had the baby out with the bath. And lost them both.

Yes, those Ten are COMMANDMENTS… to each of us as the guide by which we must live. And yes, the Mosaic Law later codified many of them into their civil law, and were enforcable as criminal code. But that “Israel” no longer exists. Now God’s laws are written upon the hearts of those who are His.

Yes, many civil laws have been passed which criminalise or punish those who adhere to those Ten: thus we have photpgraphers, venue operators. florista, bakers, etc, being forced, under penalty of huge fines and other sanctions, to support direct violations of those Ten… and this is wrong. As a libertarian, I insist on my own freedom to live by that code…. and will not willingly support someone engaging in activities directly counter to those Ten….. no, I will NOT participate in a same-sex “marriage”, as this is a clear violation of “thou shalt not commit adultery” (any sexual activity other than with your spouse, elsewhere defined as of gender opposite to your own).

“many Christians still view Sunday as the Sabbath and do, indeed, keep it holy” — I have to disagree with that statement this writer made, as it’s not a “vew” of why Christians are keeping Sunday “holy”, it’s a belief that Jesus rose from his grave on a Sunday after being persecuted on the cross, therefore Sunday is believed as a day of worship in his honor. But that’s not exactly the “Sabbath” day either. In the Latter Day Saints’ belief, and using the Bible’s words from God’s creation, the last day God rested after creating the world was on a Saturday, thus making the Sabbath day a Saturday, which also happens to be an accepted and celebrated Jewish holy day, starting from sunset Friday night, through sunset Saturday night. The rest of the article I go along with it about liberalism violating the Ten Commandments; esp. “Thou Shall Not Murder” with their nonsecular belief of Pro-Choice, murdering over 55 million pre-births a year is just beyond reproach! And we Christians are allowing all this to happen by being “silent” about it! They do the uprisings and protests while we sit back and shake our heads and wonder why we have let this country be led astray by these lying liberals forcing us into their programs of greed, murder, perverted, infidelity, fornicating sexual exploitations that have indoctrinated themselves into the minds of our own children, wiping out all the morality we parents have tried all our years while they’re growing up to be spent away by liberalism’s every reaching, every breeching God’s words. I can’t see how anyone can even want to be a liberal!

The most employed and repeated sin of the Progressive liberals is the breach of the 10th Commandment. The Progressives encourage one person to covet the possessions or wealth of another. One just needs to listen to any speech by Obama to hear the seeds of covetousness being sewn, and the pure glee with which the sin is encouraged. All the class warfare and “soak the rich” policy items are pure covetousness. In fact, covetousness is woven into the fabric of our nation’s governance — in the form of the 16th Amendment. This Amendment makes every cent of our worth fair game to politicians who wish to engage in covetous politics. We see this in the claims that certain folks “don’t pay their fair share”, whatever that means. You tell me that a person paying $50,000 in taxes per year, regardless of their income, doesn’t pay their “fair share” as compared to someone who has been on welfare their entire adult life…and has paid ZERO taxes during that time. The vottom line is our nation is mired in sin and sinful behaviors. God cannot be please with our behavior or our politics. How can He bless us and shine His grace upon us if we refuse to obey his rules?

    • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

“The Progressives encourage one person to covet the possessions or wealth of another.”

—What indicates that their wealth is ‘theirs’? If we were to carry your logic further, the entirety of capitalism would crumble: owners could not morally expropriate value from workers’ labor.

      • tonymarini

Did you go to school beyond 3rd grade??? A person’s wealth is their’s because they possess it — possession being 9/10th’s of the law. The contents of MY bank account does not belong to you. You may covet my wealth/possessions, but they belong to me as a result of the sweat of my brow and the persistence of my character. What I earn is based on a contract that I have with my employers. I work and perform tasks, and based on accomplishment, I am remunerated. Classic capitalism. But slackers and the covetous don’t seem to get this connection. They want something for nothing. Good luck with that.

        • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

“A person’s wealth is their’s because they possess it — possession being 9/10th’s of the law.”

—So then… you ARE ok with theft? Methinks your ‘ethic’ revolves around who specifically gets to take from whom… for example, owners taking from workers.

“You may covet my wealth/possessions, but they belong to me as a result of the sweat of my brow…”

—Why don’t the results of workers’ sweat (and blood) belong to them?

“and the persistence of my character.”

—Is this some euphemism that is supposed to justify hedge-fund billionaires’ salaries?

“What I earn is based on a contract that I have with my employers. I work and perform tasks, and based on accomplishment, I am remunerated. Classic capitalism.”

—Classic exploitation: employers draw up the rules in which employees are supposed to live… or in noncompliance, die.

After reading these blogs on this article; i am shocked that such a high percentage has no regards for God’s Commandments. Many seem to think that Jesus did away with the Commandments. Nothing could be further from the truth. He repeatable said to obey the Commandments and Sin no more.
In Matt. 5:17-19 He says: Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until the heaven and earth shall pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass from the Law until everything has been fulfilled.
Therefore, whoever shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall practice and teach them, this one shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
There is much more scripture that espouses that the Commandments are to be kept today as they were when given to Moses. Further a Pharisee who was an expert in the Law, asked Jesus:

WHICH COMMANDMENT IS THE GREAT COMMANDMENT IN THE LAW
Jesus said, ” ‘You shall love the Lord your God
With all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
THIS IS THE FIRST AND GREATEST COMMANDMENT.
And the second one is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matt.22:36-40).
Jesus’ first Law here encompasses the first four Commandment in entirety. While His second Commandment embraces the the remaining six commandments in its entirety, which can be further defined as: “Do on to others as you would have them do on to you.”
All of which would be a great model to live by.

Faith without works is dead. [James 2:14-26]

          • realaveragejoe

Good thing Jesus didn’t require works with faith.
James made the point that if one had faith, that works SHOULD follow, but unfortunately your point fails as works are not REQUIRED by Jesus’ sacrifice, only faith is.

          • Truth Offends

Are you saying that you believe when James said:
“Faith without works is dead,” he was actually saying:
“Faith without works is NOT dead”?

          • realaveragejoe

What I am saying is that Jesus never said that we are saved by works, only by faith.
James was saying that if we had faith, we should let our lives demonstrate that faith in our works.
But the fact remains, Jesus said we are saved by faith. End of story.

          • Truth Offends

I believe it is true that people are saved by faith, not works. But, I do not believe, as you do, that that is the “end of the story”. Considering the importance of “faith,” I delved a little deeper to try to learn more about “faith”. And, when I read James 2, I then delved a little deeper to also learn more about “works”. This is what I found:

Jesus, most certainly, was not silent about works. For example, He said in John 14:14: “If ye love Me, keep My commandments.” (see also: Matt 5:16, John 8:39, 14:12)

Peter tells us that “The Father…judgeth according to every man’s work.” (1 Peter 1:17, see also 1 Peter 2:12)

Paul teaches us the importance of “works”. In fact, in Ephesians 2:10, Paul tells us that believers are “created in Christ Jesus unto good works”! (see also Acts 26:20; 1 Corinthians 15:58; Titus1:16, 2:7; 3:8)

James 2:14-26 tells us three times(!) that “faith without works is dead”. I believe James is teaching that those who have a saving faith, that faith WOULD (not “should,” as you believe) be demonstrated in their “works”.

So, I read “Faith without works is dead” and see “Faith without works is dead.”
You apparently read that same verse and see: Faith without works doesn’t matter because Jesus didn’t say works saves us. “End of story.”

But, I believe that when reading the Bible, verses (and even chapters & books) should be put in the context of the entire Bible. And, my understanding is that James (writing the inspired Word of God) is teaching that “faith” and “works” are inseparable.

          • realaveragejoe

All excellent points, however, the simple fact is that the new covenant required only faith. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
He did not say, “works” are the way and no man cometh unto the Father, but by works.”
Clearly, Jesus wants us to live a Godly life and works are part of that, but if works are the means to salvation, where is the pass/fail line. How many works do we need to do? How often? Are some works more important than others?
That’s why Jesus came to begin with. Man is fallen and we continue to sin. Our works can’t remove that sin. If so, it would not have been necessary for Jesus to come. Works would have been enough.
            Are you Mormon?

          • Truth Offends

Like I said, I absolutely agree that faith is what saves us, not works. As far as works go and “where is the pass/fail line” I say this:

“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins” (Heb 10:26)
“Sin is the transgression of the law.” (1 John 3:4)

God commands obedience to his law (works).
I believe Jesus’ life proved that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, it is possible for man to live in perfect obedience to God. (“With God, all things are possible.”) When Jesus died, His Holy Spirit could then be given to believers–empowering them to live in obedience to God (albeit, man’s likely “imperfect” obedience). Anyway, that’s what I learned from reading/studying the Bible. And I believe James (and other verses I’ve mentioned and not yet mentioned) makes it perfectly clear that “faith” and “works” are inseparable.

          • realaveragejoe

It is not possible for man to live in perfect obedience to God. That is why Jesus had to come as a sacrifice for our sins.
Heb. 10:26 did not mean that works were a requirement of faith and salvation. It was simply an admonition to the Hebrews that they could not reject God’s truth and still have their sins forgiven.

“So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.” (Heb 3:19)

“For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.” (Heb 4:2)

“But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.” (Heb 10:39)

            Once again, are you Mormon?

          • Truth Offends

The Hebrews verses you cite support James’ statement that “faith without works is dead.”

God commanded (law) the children of Israel to enter (works) the Promised Land. By disobeying (no works) God’s command (law), they proved their unbelief (no faith).

Like Abraham did with Isaac, believers prove their faith by their works. (James 2:14-26)

And, I believe the lawless one is misleading people into believing they do not need to obey God’s perfect law.

            see: 1John 2:4 (KJV)

          • realaveragejoe

The Hebrews verses I cite do not require works. We will simply have to disagree. If you believe you are saved by works + faith, so be it. Are works good? Certainly, but Jesus never said that faith + works is required for salvation.
You won’t answer my question. Are you a Mormon? If so, that explains your works position.

          • Truth Offends

I did not say that Hebrews says works are required. I said it supports James’ statement: “Faith without works is dead.”
I believe we are saved by faith. Do you have a Biblical definition of faith? I learned from the Bible (James) that the type of faith that saves us is a faith that is proven by works–a faith that is dead without works, and that a “dead faith” cannot save us. Jesus commands works. (“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”) Paul tells us (Eph 2:10) that believers are “created in Christ Jesus unto good works”! John tells us in 1 John 2:4 that “He who says ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” (Yikes!) Rev. 21:8 tells us that “all liars” will be part of the second death (not saved). There are many(!) other verses that support my position that God commands believers to be obedient to Him. (see also Heb 10:26 & 29) I believe the Holy Spirit is given to believers to empower them to be obedient to God. For what purpose do you think believers are given the Holy Spirit?

Whether or not I am a Mormon has no bearing at all on the truth of the Word of God. My “works position” is solidly based on the clear and plain language of the Bible, not on “Jesus did not say…” (And, no. I am not a Mormon.)

Yes, I will agree to disagree on this matter. Thanks for listening and giving me your feedback. I appreciate that.
I hope you will give a little more thought to what I have said in this and my other 5 posts to you in this thread~~b/c I believe what I am saying is true! :-)
            Thanks again and good-night.

Are you suggesting that the belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh, drink his blood and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force
from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree doesn’t make perfect sense?

          • Phillip Lightweis-Goff

Gosh! If you put it THAT way… wait… no, it’s still garbage.

          • LABobfromNYC

Let me put it another way for you…
the unending, all-powerful force of creation that hand-made the universe funneled himself into the body of a human fetus and then teleported the fetus into the uterus of a married virgin. He then spent 30 years on earth walking around doing basically nothing and then one day rearranged reality to set in motion events that would lead to his own death…effectively committing suicide. He does this because his death will,
for some or other reason, clear humanity’s sin tally (which he, himself is keeping up in heaven). And then after his plans to get himself killed fall into place, he looks around and asks himself why he has abandoned himself

      • Belinda Duras

read the new testament which being a liberal you wouldn’t it tells the difference between obediance by the spirit and obediance to laws

    • charles

of course JESUS did not do away with the laws. because they still have a purpose. that is to prove to anyone that they are a sinner in need of a savoir. even if you could keep ALL 219+ laws perfectly in the flesh which you can’t, all are born with a rebellious nature aka spirit. and in less you are born again which gives you a brand new spirit you would still be under GODS wrath. explain Ephesians 2:15. Paul clearly explains in Romans the purpose of the law. you are either under the law or under grace. how was Abraham justified? the law was not handed down until 490 yrs after Abraham.

      • Truth Offends

Faith without works is dead. (James 2:14-26)

        • charles

faith and believe are the same thing. anyhow, works do not get you saved, they prove you are saved already. no one shall be justified by the works of the law. sin was here before the law. without the law, no one can be charged. what part of “who shall bring a charge against GODS elect, for it is GOD who justifies, aka holds blameless. JESUS by definition offers a full pardon. many put there faith in there works, good deeds to earn eternal life. what do they do about there sins? the only acceptable payment for sin is blood. untainted sinless blood. such as what JESUS had. just read Romans. all of it.

          • Truth Offends

What makes you think sin was here before the law?
Sin entered into the world when Adam (and Eve) sinned against God’s law!

            God’s law existed since creation!

          • charles

the sin for breaking the law was not charged against them. not until the laws, only 10, were given to moses from GOD.
why does our congress pass laws? so that you can be charged with something.. if you don’t believe me, then MAYBE you will believe scripture. you read it. Romans is a good start.

          • Truth Offends

            (1) Moses received more than 10 laws from God.
            (2) It sounds to me as if you believe that when James said “faith without works is dead,” he means something other than “faith without works is dead”. Is that what you believe?
            (3) It also sounds to me as if you believe Romans teaches that “works” are not at all necessary to be saved. Is that what you believe?
            (4) I did read all of Romans.

  • David from McAllen

I needs only to see just how the Ten Commandments drives a person nuts to know what’s in their heart. If you cannot stand the Ten Commandments, it’s because it is a mirror. Someone that loves sin cannot stand the site of mirror, the commandments, because it shows the truth about themselves and their relationship with the Lord.

  • Walter Hewitt

WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED AT THIS?
Liberals think all rules and laws are for others – never for them.
    = = = = = =
If there is any justice in this world…Liberals will get introduced to Mohammed and Allah when they die, rather than their souls going to where Jesus and GOD dwell – in Heaven.
I know those rumors about 72 virgins sound pretty good to some of the living, but Mohammed was a murderous warrior, and Allah (through Mohammed) has demanded the murder of millions of innocents (including children) since the dawn of Islam…Sooo — those are two spirits that I would definitely NOT want to spend eternity with … No, sir…’not me….Huh-uh….

Dear Barbwire, None of the people who post on your site can comprehend what they read and seem not to be able to stay on point when they post. Discussion is fruitless because no one knows what they are talking about. If you want to post on deep subjects maybe you should target a different crowd. It is like trying to discuss quantum physics with a teenager

One love your name and two some people just can’t comprehend things. It blows me away

  • ibelieveinfreedom2

I’ve been saying this for years. No Christian can EVER be a democrat, for the platform itself is a 100% violation of God’s laws. Although the left denies that America was founded in Christianity, it is hard to deny God’s presence in the law as well as the founding documents. If one were to bother to read the massive works of the founding fathers, it is obvious they themselves believed God was at the base of everything they did and without whom this country would not exist. The radical left despises God for one reason, God stands in the way of their agenda. One cannot have so much as a single moral fiber and buy into the democrat agenda let alone God’s law.

    • LABobE

I wonder how you people would feel is a sitting POTUS took the bible, a pair of scissors & cut out 90% of it & proclaimed “this is what I believe”?? That is EXACTLY what Jefferson did!

      • ibelieveinfreedom2

He did not. You are twisting facts.

      • ibelieveinfreedom2

The book which he carried handily to have at the ready was not a ‘Bible’, it was merely a teaching tool for morality purposes which contained Jesus’ works and such. It is entitled the “Life and morals of Jesus of Nazareth” not the “Jefferson bible” .
        Nice try though.

        • LABobfromNYC

Jefferson did NOT believe in ANY of the miracles in the bible

      • henryknox

He wanted to create a condensed bible that could be used to educate the Indians.

        • Manuka

Right, you mean those Native Americans who were trucking along just fine on their own with their own robust culture and spiritual practices before the colonials came marching in and murdered most of them? Then whoever was left was essentially forced to convert whether they liked it or not. Yeah, that’s really something to be proud of.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

            Are you opposed to that?

          • Manuka

Am I opposed to what exactly? Genocide? Erm… Yes. Are you not?

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

Oh good, then that means you oppose islam. Just checking.

          • Manuka

Nope, it means I oppose genocide. I have no problem with religious people so long as they don’t use their religion to violate the human rights of others. There are plenty of Christians I get along really well with even though we don’t share the same views because they don’t use their religion to hurt anyone and I don’t go around telling them they’re a moron for having faith. I’m good friends with Muslim people as well because it operates under the same conditions as my friendships with Christians do. Would I have a problem with Muslim people using their religion to cause pain and to violate fundatmental rights, of course. Just like I’d have a problem with Christians or Buddhists or Jews or Pagans or atheists etc etc etc if they did the same thing. I have no problem with religion. Religion can be a great thing and it really works for some people even though it’s not my cup of tea. I have a problem with people who use their faith a a cover for their bigotry and who refuse to change even when they’re causing immense damage and pain while being blatantly hypocritical. I’m not buying into your Islamophobic rubbish.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

It’s a shame all those Christians are going around with bombs strapped to themselves, in back packs, in cars, etc blowing up people in the name of religion. It’s also a shame Christians hijacked 4 planes on 9/11 crashing them into the twin towers, the pentagon, and a field. It’s a shame that Christian nutcase murdered 17 people in Ft. Hood. It’s a shame those wacky Christians brutalized Ambassador Stevens in Benghazi too. All this and more in the name of Christianity! The list is almost endless. Oh $h!t ! I’ve just been informed those were islamists. Never mind.

    • henryknox

They voted to remove God from the Democrat platform at their last convention. However, for PR reasons the vote was overridden by the chair.

      • ibelieveinfreedom2

Yes, I listened to that and it was mind boggling. They are so brazen about their hatred of God they were seriously unafraid to rid themselves of Him once and for all. Much to their surprise, people were actually offended. I must say, that part surprised me too. As I said, no real Christian could ever be a democrat so I didn’t expect any objections at all. Unfortunately some people claim to be Christians but in all reality know nothing of God, Jesus, or The Word therefore they object to the outward appearance that they would have the audacity to dispense with God altogether.

  • Calvinius

We’re talking idolatry here. Liberalism is built on it. First, there’s literal idolatry (the worship of man-made idols, animals or inanimate objects) enjoyed by our New Age friends. And then there’s everything else: pantheistic environmentalism, the idols of “reproductive freedom,” “sexual liberation and equality,” etc.

Clearly no reason to read any further than this. Here we have proof that Mr. Barber is willing to no only lie about liberal belief (otherwise known as bearing false witness), but to rewrite the Ten Commandments to mean something other than what God actually intended, just to define everything liberals support as an “idol” no matter how absurd that may be.

Exactly how many of the Ten Commandments did you violate in the writing of this article, Mr. Barber?

    • ibelieveinfreedom2

Surely you jest. The first ‘god’ of liberals is if it feels good do it. To hell with what God ordained.

    • ibelieveinfreedom2

There are a myriad of ‘gods’ for the liberal left starting with ‘man made’ climate (insert word de jour ), gay ‘marriage’, and abortion.
These are just the tip of the iceberg and all require one to ireplace God with man.

      • Calvinius

None of those are considered “gods” by anyone.

        • ibelieveinfreedom2

If you put something or someone before God in importance, it is your ‘god’. You can ‘bold’ all you want, but that doesn’t change the fact. God must be first, and if He is first, you can’t believe that man can change the climate as that is in God’s hands, not yours or anyone else’s.
If you believe abortion is right, you are putting murder before God and worshiping ‘women’s rights’. You are also placing sexual pleasure before God believing what ever consequences there are you can ‘rid’ yourself of them, same goes for out of wedlock and perverted sex.
So yes, those are the ‘gods’ of the left whether you declare them to be so or not, they are.

          • Calvinius

How do you know that God didn’t give us the ability to influence the climate?

And news flash, there’s nothing in the Bible saying that abortion is murder.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” Those are God’s words. That means in the womb is a small human being, Thou shalt not kill. Abortion is murder.
You would have to be a science denier to believe that the amount of CO2 man puts in the atmosphere can change the climate. And if I believed that God gave us the ability to change the climate, then I’d also believe that using the resources He gave us would either not be the instrument to change the climate or they would change it for the betterment of man.

          • Calvinius

No, you’d have to be a science denier to think that the amount of CO2 man puts into the atmosphere can’t change the climate.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

That proves you know nothing about science.

          • Calvinius

It’s a basic physical property of CO2 that higher concentrations of it lead to warmer temperatures.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2
    • LABobfromNYC

inanimate objects? What do you call a dead Jew on a stick?

  • Manuka

You know, I just had to laugh at this because it’s ridiculous. I’m not from the USA and dear lord (it’s a saying, I’m not actually a Christian) am I glad. Your country was founded with a lovely combination of war, genocide and land grabs.

British colonials came in and slaughtered Native Americans left, right and centre, subjecting them to countless horrors. Then you created all your infrastructure and built much of your wealth of the back of slave labour.

That’s not even talking about what went on in the annexation of places like California where you white Americans told people of Central American or Spanish decent to get off the land they’d worked their whole lives or you’d kill them because the white guys who’d trucked in from the north east in search of gold felt they were more entitled to that land purely by virtue of being white.

It goes on and on and on and on. The effects of all of that still resonate today and you’re saying it’s liberals seeking equality that they’re the ones violating the ten commandments? Really? Really?

    • ibelieveinfreedom2

Strange, most countries/governments have their beginnings that way yet only America is ridiculed for it. Never once are Americans given the slightest bit of gratitude for the great works they have done for people the world over. Take your ungratefulness elsewhere, there are enough brainwashed morons who are citizens with whom OUR affairs should be discussed so butt out.

Thanks for the insight. Mentally challenged I gathered.

          • Manuka

You know you’re right. I do find it mentally challenging to wrap my mind grapes around how somebody could be so utterly ignorant. I try, but it’s baffling.

Your ignorance is showing, you should stop now before we all get stitches in our sides from laughing at you.

          • Truth Offends

I think she’s what might be called an “enlightened intellectual”!
Probably majored in “Women’s Studies” at an Ivy League University!

          • Manuka

Currently post-grad bio-anthro actually but Women’s Studies courses provide good education. Maybe you need a few Women’s Studies courses? Along with biology obviously.

          • Truth Offends

You’re the one who doesn’t know a woman needs a man to make a baby!

          • Manuka

You’re really fixated on this aren’t you? If we ignore experimental procedures involving mitochondrial DNA (at this point they can create an embryo with the genetic material of two women and one man to overcome genetic disorders found exclusively in mitochondrial DNA which is awesome) then what a person with a uterus requires is sperm. Last I checked semen doesn’t actually count as a man in its own right. It’s the sperm that’s necessary and pre-op and no-op trans women as well as non-binary people can produce sperm. So no, you don’t NEED a man. It may be the most common but it’s not a necessity.

          • Truth Offends

A woman NEEDS a man to make a baby. Too bad.

          • Manuka

You know, all I can hope now is that some more enlightened person scrolls passed this discussion (if you can even call it that) and maybe gets a little chuckle out of how ludicrous your approach to this has been.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

The only one who is ludicrous is you.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

Moron! If you don’t need a man, where the hell is the sperm coming from! Brilliantly uneducated.

          • Truth Offends

She said she’s “post-grad bio-anthro” who also thinks “Women’s Studies courses provide good education.”
She’s probably one of those who thinks “all sex is rape”!

          • Manuka

Technically they’re not that far off from artificial sperm so the lab. Also, non-op and pre-op trans women as well as certain non-binary people can produce sperm and neither of those groups are men, so yeah. Men aren’t 100% necessary.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

This comment goes to the heart of the article. You’ve placed man above God. He made man and woman to be the perfect mate that is His will and what He ordained. You think you know better than God so you’re going to make your own replacement for man and show Him how you can do a better job. That ‘enlightened’ lack of education you’ve received will do you no good when you are languishing in hell. You’d be better served putting God first and obeying His will rather than your own and there’d be no need to be wasting your time with that foolishness of artificial sperm. You could be doing something useful to benefit mankind instead you use your knowledge to mock God. You are pathetic and ignorant.

          • Manuka

Hey, if your god is anything like you then I’d like the express ticket to hell please. The devil sounds like way more fun. Given I’m firmly agnostic and don’t believe in an afterlife, let alone a Christian afterlife your threats of languishing in hell really don’t mean anything to me.

You see, humans weren’t created by a god. There’s this nifty little thing called evolution which you can totally grasp if you weren’t born in the seventeenth century. I don’t need to show him how I can do a better job. Given he probably doesn’t exist, at least not in any form you recognise I’m really not afraid of this grand Christian judgement.

If there is a god and there is a heaven then I don’t want anything to do with a god or a heaven that would accept a racist, a homophobe, a transphobe and probably a misogynist before me.

Also, given the thousands upon thousands upon thousands of religions and spiritualities there have been throughout the course of human existence, all of which where convinced they knew the truth – how do you know you’re any different? How do you know that in 2000 years time people won’t look upon your Christianity the way we look at Roman religion, as pretty little mythological tales which helped them make sense of their world.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

This ‘nifty’ little thing called evolution has so many holes in it you can drive a Mac truck through it. First off, where did the little particles come from to start the evolutionary process, and how did each little cell end up in the proper place to create anything but a mangled mess? None of that happened without God. True, things can ‘evolve’ to some slight extent, but the original being has to be there first.
I guess you’re going to be disappointed when you die only to find out you’ll be with racists, homophobes, transphobes, misogynists, homosexuals, transexuals, murderers, rapists, etc… beside you.

          • Manuka

Oh lovie. When’s the last time you went to a science class? You think evolution has holes but creationism is totes a rock solid theory. Talking about the physics involved in the big bang and the creation of various elements and all of the chemistry involved in that is too complex to try and explain here, plus there’s no point because I’m positive you wouldn’t grasp it anyway but it’s all a really solid theory. How about we just agree that you don’t have a good understanding of basic scientific principles and leave it at that?

Well you see, I don’t know why I’d be with the racists or the homophobes or the transphobes of the misogynists or the murders or the rapists given I’m none of those things. I can count four of those things that you are and I can’t say either way with regards to the rape or the murder so I’m not sure how you figured out that I’d be the one hanging out with those peeps.

Nice job trying to equate loving someone and having a gender with rape and murder though. That was nice. I’m sure that’ll get you in god’s good books. That wasn’t homophobic or transphobic at all. Also, it’s transgender. Well done for proving you’ve still stuck in a bigoted time long ago.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

I’d explain how the world was created, but you’re too ignorant to understand it. That being said, you’re also too ignorant to understand anything else. That’s what happens when you become an intellectual snob and think you’re greater than God. Good luck and good bye.

          • LABobfromNYC

Smart people do not make up a magic story with an invisible
            magic man to explain things

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

No, they make up stories about nothing that exploded creating itself through evolution. WOW! I wonder how NOTHING did that!

          • LABobfromNYC

Well, if you had 1/2 a brain you’d realize their is no such thing as “nothing”

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

Wow! if you had 1/2 a brain you’d sit up and stare at it all night. In the mean time you can’t explain how something got there unless God created it. There was NOTHING before the something became ‘something’.

          • LABobfromNYC

Your ignorance of science is astounding.

          • LABobfromNYC

I understand why Christianity will fight science
to the desperate end over evolution, because evolution destroys utterly and finally the very reason Jesus’ earthly life was supposedly made necessary. Destroy Adam and Eve and the original sin, and in the rubble you will find the
remains of the son of god. Still, if the if the universe is less than 10,000 years old, then: all of geology and biology are wrong; the speed of light has been wrongly calculated, so Einsteinian physics is wrong; the distance and speed of other galaxies has been wrongly calculated, meaning that all of
astronomy and therefore Newtonian physics are also wrong

          • portertx

            There is actually something called
Spontaneous pregnancy…it is quite fascinating how nature works.

One patient, now aged 28 years, was referred for short stature at age 13 years after an operation for coarctation of the aorta. The karyotype was 88% 45X, 5% 46XX, 5% 47XXX, 2% XO+Fr. The gonadotropin values at presentation and on follow-up ranged from high normal to high levels. Pubertal development and menses occurred spontaneously. At the age of 20 and 21 years, dominant follicles of 14 and 17 mm, respectively, were found on sonography. She conceived spontaneously at the age of 26 years and had an uneventful pregnancy, giving birth to a normal girl with normal chromosome constitution and birth weight of 2,800 g.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

Yeah, that’s why it’s been all over the news and with verification too.

America is most strongly ridiculed for it because there’s such a strong movement dedicated to ignoring that’s what happened. I come from a country in which the white people are in fact there as a result of British colonisation. We didn’t however have slaves so we’ve got you beat in that area already.

The treatment of our indigenous peoples was horrific and there are still huge cultural scars as a result however in all areas our Government is making huge efforts to try and provide some sort of reparation. Maori language is taught in most if not all schools, Maori culture is integrated whenever possible if it’s respectful. We’ve restored some of the Maori place names. We try to respect sites that are tapu. We have Treaty of Waitangi settlements that return land that rightfully belongs to the Iwi and provide them with financial compensation as some attempt to make up for all that colonisation robbed from them.

We are so far from perfect but we’re a whole lot better than the USA. So yes, I do feel it’s appropriate to ridicule America for it’s horrific past that it continually tries to hide under the rug.

And given that America is really fond of meddling in other countries’ sovereign affairs I feel that gives us at least some right to critique you. Especially when you keep trying to claim to be the leaders and the free world and this beacon of human rights.

        • ibelieveinfreedom2

Many Europeans from different countries came to this country and settled here. The different countries fought each other for the land and they all fought the natives. Eventually the settlers fought for their independence and set up a government for themselves. The fact is the natives had no means to keep them from doing so and if it had not been the particular people who finally ended up with the land, it would have been others. The natives were not going to remain the only ones living here no matter what. That history is basic in most countries that have no government or one that can not defend itself. Slavery was customary in just about every country and it still exists today in quite a few. As long as we’re on that subject, it might interest you to know that the slaves that were brought here were destined for one of two fates, death or slavery. Most came from Africa where tribes would normally kill the members of other tribes. When America came into being, instead of killing each other, the tribes captured and sold other tribe members instead of killing them. While I don’t agree with slavery, I do believe that God ordained this as a means of keeping these people alive. Their descendants would not be alive and complaining today had it not been for slavery in America as their ancestors would have been dead long before they were born.
I’m glad you think you have it so well in your native country, that means you won’t be coming here. Thank God for small favors.
Your lack of knowledge of American history gives you your arrogance when you speak of America’s ‘meddling’ in other countries sovereign affairs. You conveniently ‘forget’ or never knew how Americans have been the most generous in any crisis in any country or how we have shed our blood and spent our treasure defending people in other countries.
To you I say you are an ingrate who knows little of what you speak. America is the greatest country on earth and nothing you can say will ever change that.

          • Manuka

You know, shockingly, a lot of people don’t see your invasions as defending their countries. Yeah, I’m sure Iraqis really appreciated it when you carpet bombed civilians and used DU ammunition in a way that’s caused huge amounts of birth defects and radiation poisoning and cancer. You’ll find a lot of non-Americans aren’t so blinded as to think the USA is an almighty saviour to be worshiped. I don’t see the killing of hundreds of thousands of innocent people as generous just because your president and your corporations and your government has some monetary interest in whatever country you decided to invade this time.

Quite frankly, it seems like I know more about American history than you do. You’ve got the whitewashed, cleansed, patriotic version and most of it is dead wrong.

The fact you can speak so calmly about genocide is proof to me that there’s something profoundly wrong with your ability to feel empathy. Just because it may have been inevitable doesn’t make it okay. Why can’t you go, if it wasn’t us then it probably would’ve been someone else because that’s how things were at that time but just because it was probably always going to happen doesn’t mean it should’ve. Why can’t you acknowledge that the horror that the Native Americans were subjected as a result of colonisation will never ever ever be acceptable and they should be compensated for everything they’ve been put through? Why not try and right some of the historical wrongs?

You just made it completely clear that you know NOTHING about slavery. If I’d been in that position I’d much rather be dead than be a slave. As a woman I would’ve been tortured and raped and forced to work in horrific conditions until I was crippled and killed for being useless if I hadn’t died of disease or already been murdered or died in childbirth that I’d have had to go through as a result of the rape. If I did survive, I wouldn’t be allowed anywhere near those children and in all likelihood they would’ve been taken out back and murdered.

You’re trying to say that slavery was a gift from god??!! Your ignorance is astonishing. It’s beyond belief. Not to mention you talk about Africa as though it’s one monolith even though it’s a continent with hundreds of different ethnicities and languages and spiritualities and customs etc etc etc. Maybe some tribes engaged in warfare. Guess what, so does America. That’s like me saying I’m going to enslave the whole US Army so they don’t have to go to war and risk getting killed. Can’t you see how absurd that is? Guess what, EVERYONE IS DESTINED FOR DEATH. Nobody’s immortal. Being able to live among your own people with your own culture and your own identity and being acknowledged as an actual human being rather than an animal is FAR PREFERABLE to slavery and if you can’t see that you’re more of an ignorant bigot than I thought.

You know, maybe I should thank you for clearly illustrating the type of people who advocate denying me basic human rights – the same people who think African Americans should be thankful for slavery. NO.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

Oh and I suppose Sodamedinsane wasn’t killing off millions of his own people. Yeah okay you’ve shown your ignorance again and how you twist the facts. BTW, that’s not the only time in history America has come to the rescue of those in need. You might try reading the rest of America’s history. Again I need to remind you that while everyone likes to hate on America, they all have their hand out taking the fruits of our labor. When they ALL put their hands in their own pockets and stop taking from us their opinion of us might have some merit until then it is nothing more than jealousy and ingratitude and that’s how it will be taken.
You’d rather be dead than a slave, well that’s a comforting thought. I don’t think I’d want either, but the facts are the facts regardless. I suppose we should instead talk about Africa’s history and say how wonderful it is that so many were killed at the hands of their rival tribe members, after all their fate could have been slavery and their descendants might be forced to live in the greatest country on the face of the earth! What a terrible thing to have happen to them! And suppose I’d said I wish they’d all been killed and we wouldn’t have all those black people in America. I guess you’d accuse me of being racist and mean. So no matter what I say, being the America hater that you are, it would be wrong. Fortunately your opinion is not only ignorant and worthless, but it is also good for a hearty laugh.

          • Calvinius

Saddam Hussein killed somewhere around one million of his own people. The Iraq War resulted in an Iraqi death toll about 50% higher than that.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

Good thing we stopped him because it would have been quadruple the numbers. Another + for America!

          • Calvinius

Saddam killed 1 million Iraqis in 30 years. The US invasion killed 1.5 million Iraqis in 8 years. Do the math.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

So, the killings should not have been stopped even though he had all the components of WMD and would have used them. And it never occurred to you that most ‘innocent’ civilians that were killed were used as shields by their own forces and they, not the Americans are to blame for those deaths. Liberals are irrational haters.

          • Calvinius

Bad to the false premise of phantom WMDs again? Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction in 2003. They had no WMD programs in 2003. The notion that Iraq was going to use WMDs again is baseless.

And again, we didn’t stop the killings by invading Iraq, we made the killings worse.

          • LABobfromNYC

You don’t understand America. We have to be in perpetual war just to insure the peace! You don’t think we’re about to spend a trillion dollars a year on the military & not use it?

    • thisoldspouse

We’re glad you’re not here as well.

    • LABobfromNYC

It was called Manifest destiny a belief America is a nation called to a special destiny by God & we had (still have) the god given right to slaughter ANYONE we want!!!

  • 1josephg1

Maybe the people of this country will wake up and smell the roses. Things are best when we do it God’s way.

    • Doug Bristow

      Amen!

    • L1011

Yep, like the correct way to beat your slaves. You don’t want you beat them so hard they die within 48 hours.

  • Christopher Huffman

Socialism was meant to be Christianity with out God. We would be our own god. But – anything that is without God is Hell!

It’s a simple formula: If a liberal is ‘for it’ you can bet they are vehemently against it.

  • portertx

And how many of you are for Capital Punishment?

  • Billy Bob Johnson

The same exact case could be made for conservatives. This is a bunch of biased B.S.

    • turnipweed

      Maybe some of them.

But all Liberals are psychopaths. Scroll down and have a look at the list if you are brave enough.

  • USMC 64-68

Progressivism goes back to the Garden, and it promulgates the same lie that the snake in the grass did – you will be like god.

The elite fulfill that role to rule over man and bring society into perfection.

Progressivism is totally bankrupt: morally, intellectually, spiritually and philosophically.

    • LABobfromNYC

The irony of that myth is God lied & the snake told the truth!

      • USMC 64-68

And what do you have to base that on other than your spiritual and intellectual anemia BoobE?

Your hatred and rebellion against God isn’t much of a recommendation. It’s not even distinctive – hell is filled with those who have felt it important to share their deficiencies with the world and reveal themselves as ungrateful, disobedient and disrespectful children.

        • LABobfromNYC

God told Adam and Eve that if they ate or even touched fruit from the tree, they would die, but they didn’t!
The Snake said, “When you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil”. It happened. BTW, threatening an atheist will hell is like threatening a vegetarian that you’re going to force feed them unicorn meat.

          • USMC 64-68

See BoobE – this is why rebels against God shouldn’t comment on the Bible. They don’t actually believe it, nor do they understand it.

Adam and Eve did die – they were separated from the presence of God. You need to learn that there are different kinds of death, and you certainly need to learn what’s involved in spiritual death.

And again, you show how stupid you unbelievers are – not knowing and not understanding. The serpent is figurative language for the real Devil, e.g., “you snake in the grass.”

Again, your stupidity keeps you from understanding plain English. I didn’t “threaten” you with hell. I simply spoke about the reality all unbelievers, disobedient, haters of God face.

          • ibelieveinfreedom2

            Well said.

  • Calvinius

It’s hilarious that you cite infamous charlatans and quacks like Ian Plimer.

Excellent analysis, and very accurate. It’s no surprise, either, since being against God is the underlying motive of the Left. Right vs. Left could as easily and accurately be Right vs. Wrong.

  • Arthur Adams

If you want proof Matt Barber is an arrogant git, look no further than this article.

He looks down upon the world and smugly declares “we’re so much better than them.”

Pride goeth before a fall, Matt. That’s Proverbs 16:18, though I doubt you read that part, since it’s not part of “hate teh gheyz”. You might also look up the Parable of the Guests. Perhaps you can find a Bible in the high place at the table you seated yourself.

  • Dan Lee Uhl

The Bible also says it’s acceptable to take slaves, and have sex with them. How many slaves does Barber own, and does he have sex with them?

  • Dan Lee Uhl

And as for conservatives lying, I give you George Bush and Dick Cheney, whose lies killed hundreds of thousands, and conservatives didn’t say squat. They didn’t try to claim he wasn’t a conservative or a Christian, nor did they try to stop him from his bloody course. Conservative Christians will have to answer for that, if they truly believe that there is a God that will punish them for their sins, why were they silent (and you were quiet as a churchmouse, Barber) when their chosen leader was killing thousands, including Christians.

How DARE you manipulate God this way? How DARE you malign those who disagree with you by throwing the whole weight of your own false religion against them? Jesus BROKE with the false religiosity of his day. He re-gramed the Ten Commandments in a new way that you have chosen totally, in your cruelty, to ignore.

All I can say is, “May God GET you for that! The propmised rewards for your blasphemy are great.”
