Rabbi: ‘Smile of heaven’ withdrawn from America (powerful video)

I was impressed by this video and article on WND about a recent prayer event in the Nation’s Capitol.

In 1789, after being sworn in as our first president, George Washington, accompanied by the Members of Congress, proceeded to St. Paul’s Chapel where he offered a prayer of dedication to God on America’s behalf which included these words:

“No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than the people of the United States.

“We ought to be no less persuaded that the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained…” (Emphasis mine).

Now, hear the challenging words of Rabbi Jonathan Cahn who warned that the United States of America could not expect to prosper if it forgets God:

“We stand tonight on Capitol Hill, in the city named after the one who gave that prophetic warning, to ask, can a nation drive out the name of God from its public square, and the Word of God from its schools and the ways of God from its culture and still expect the smiles of God to shine upon it?

“Can the blood of 50 million unborn children cry out to heaven from this land and the smiles of heaven still remain?

“Members of Congress, can a government call evil good and good evil and forge laws that war against the laws of the Almighty and the smiles of heaven still remain?

“Supreme Court justices, can you strike down the statutes of the Almighty and overturn the judgments of the Most High and still expect the smiles of heaven to remain?

“Mr. President, can you place your left hand on the Word of God to assume your office and with your right hand sign laws which break the very Word upon which you swore and still expect the smiles of heaven to remain?

“The voice of our first president cries out to us tonight and answers, no you cannot do so and still expect the smiles of heaven to remain on this land.”

The Rabbi addressed all three pillars of our government in his challenge.

I believe this reflection on Washington’s prophetic prayer is a dire warning to our leaders and to the people of our nation.

If America wants to be blessed, then we must bless God.

As I said in my book “Take Back America,” God is the foundation of good government and national prosperity. Regardless of your religious belief or disbelief, any reasonable person must concede that America is broken. We need God in America again.

In the 28th Chapter of Deuteronomy, God give the children of Israel a clear choice. The nation can choose to obey God and reap his blessings, or disobey God and incur the inevitable curses.

I believe as Washington and most of our founding fathers believed, that the principles of Deuteronomy 28 applied to the newly formed United States of America: “We ought to be no less persuaded that the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained…”

If America wants to be blessed, then we must bless Israel.

There is another biblical principal that we, as Americans, must heed as written in Genesis 12:3 when God told Abraham, the father of the nation of Israel… “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Today, I grieve for our nation because of our leadership’s ill-conceived and incomprehensible foreign policies, particularly as they apply to the nation of Israel.

In a recent letter written by a committee of rabbis to Secretary of State John Kerry, the rabbis liken Secretary Kerry to some of the greatest enemies of Israel of all time.  Since John Kerry is the highest diplomatic representative of the Obama administration, Barack Obama is implied to be among those enemies, as well.

There is an irony to a rabbi quoting George Washington…

I want to make you aware of a special offer that we have for all friends of Liberty Counsel and supporters of Israel.

Here is an opportunity to get a copy of a fascinating book that we are genuinely pleased to offer, George Washington and Israel by Peter Lillback, PhD, the president of The Providence Forum and president of Westminster Theological Seminary.

“Could the evidence from George Washington’s life and writings, for instance, show that he knew far more about Israel than most would think possible? Within George Washington and Israel’s pages, Dr. Lillback answers that question and reveals what other American presidents have had to say on this very timely topic.”

Within its pages, Dr. Lillback answers that question and reveals what other American presidents have to say on this very timely topic.  (Please be sure to get your copy for a gift of any amount by clicking here.)

As I have said many times before, Liberty Counsel supports Israel for biblical and national security reasons. Israel is a Middle East bastion of democracy and individual freedom and is the birthplace of the Judeo-Christian concept of the rule of law – which, in turn, became the foundation of America and Western Civilization.

As I was privileged to discuss with Prime Minister Netanyahu several months ago, the United States and Israel are the modern day pillars of Western Civilization and our nations’ fates are inextricably linked.

Hating Jesus: The American Left's War on Christianity

Matt Barber with Paul Hair

The secular left doesn’t merely have a disagreement with Christianity. These are not people with whom one may reason, compromise or even disagree. They are dedicated to evil. They demand nothing less than the abolition of the biblical worldview, and the destruction of Christ’s followers right along with it.

Now is the time to fight back. If you are someone, Christian or not, who refuses to see Christianity wiped out (like it ever could be) and your children indoctrinated into pure evil, then sitting on the sidelines is no longer an option.
