Tea Party Donors Audited Ten Times More Often Than Average Americans
By James Daniels
Your chances of being audited by the IRS are the lowest in years. But try telling that to someone who donated to the Tea Party.
According to The Washington Times, House Republicans have discovered that the IRS has audited 10 percent of Tea Party donors. While one in ten might not seem to be all that much, that’s far higher than the national average of one percent. Of course, House Republicans aren’t happy about this.
Could there be a reasonable explanation for this? Perhaps. But it would involve most or all Tea Party donors being millionaires as 10.9 percent of people earning $1 million or more were audited last year.
Perhaps a study should be done on how many liberal donors were audited for comparison. If it’s anything like the IRS targeting of 292 conservative groups versus six liberal groups, chances are slim liberals were audited at the same rate as Tea Party donors.
Of course, this must just be another story that Fox News or Rush Limbaugh concocted. You see, President Obama is just “interested in solving problems and is pretty practical,” so there’s no way he’d let this happen under his watch. That, or the Obama administration must be trying to make sure those Tea Party yahoos aren’t trying to “break what our predecessors spent over two centuries building,” right?
