Big Shock: Liberal Press Deceptive in Unemployment Rate Reports Yet Again
If anyone knows any high level Republicans and conservatives, can you please help me teach them that we must create our own avenues for information to flow so we can lower the number of low information voters? Can you ask them to stop waiting for the liberal, dishonest press to give them and their message a fair shake?
On Friday morning the Chicago Tribune sent out this email alert regarding a “breaking story”:
It was easy to guess how excited that news editor must have been at the Trib; “Our man Barack is succeeding!”
At the same moment, the headline at the Drudge Report gave the real story:
Matt Drudge certainly has his own biases, but he also has a good sense of humor. It’s easy to assume he saw that morning’s liberal media headlines, read the reports, and then wrote his own headline.
Liberal Bloomberg’s headline was funny too, in a different way:
Hiring in U.S. Kicks Into Higher Gear as Unemployment Plunges to 6.3%
Here’s the opening sentence:
The job-creation engine kicked into higher gear as U.S. employers boosted payrolls in April by the most in two years and the jobless rate plunged to the lowest since the collapse of Lehman Brothers.
Yippee! God save the king!
If you stuck with the article until paragraph nine you learn why the “plunge” in the percentage:
The drop in the unemployment rate from March’s 6.7 percent came as the agency’s survey of households showed the labor force shrank by more the 800,000 in April. The so-called participation rate, which indicates the share of working-age people in the labor force, decreased to 62.8 percent, matching the lowest level since 1978, from 63.2 percent a month earlier.
Anyone who is serious about learning the facts has had plenty of time to understand that the Obama-era version of the unemployment rate is not what it was pre-Obama. More people give up looking for work, drop out of the work force, and we allow the lying bureaucrats to pretend things are getting better by playing games with the numbers.
Unfortunately, most Americans don’t have the energy or interest in putting in the time necessary to find out if the media is being honest. Many if not most take in the headlines and opening paragraphs at best. The press knows that they can hide the facts later in their reports.
Those who get their news and information elsewhere know the truth. Many articles have been linked at my website over the years about what the Department of Labor is doing with the unemployment rate (see here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here for examples — and that’s not even all of them). The mainline news media’s lies and deceptions reach most Americans. The conservative press reaches its relatively small audience with the truth. And the cycle repeats.
All the while Republican and conservatives expect change to miraculously take place despite the fact that they continue to do an absolutely lousy job of reaching the uninformed and misinformed with the facts. Of course this is only one issue — Republicans and conservatives are losing the information war when it comes to almost everything.
People will usually believe what they want to believe. This should be obvious though — if voters want to know the truth but they never hear it, how can they support it?
Here are a few more articles from Friday that are of interest:
Click on them and you’ll see that these last three articles are found in places where the Republican and conservative choir gets their news and information. It’s good to have a well-informed choir, don’t get me wrong, but that’s not enough if we’re going to save the country.
