‘Hunky Jesus’: ‘Sisters’ Mock Christ on Easter
Blasphemy. It’s never pretty, and sometimes it can be just plain sophomoric.
“Twerk It Jesus” was declared the winner of this year’s “Hunky Jesus” contest in San Francisco, an event held every Easter Sunday to mock Christianity, have a few laughs, and catch some California sunshine. The event is hosted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group of men who dress as nuns.
To their credit, the Sisters perform acts of charity, typically helping fellow homosexuals cope with the consequences of their sin.
This year’s event attracted competitors with unlikely names like “Mumble Jumble Jesus” and “Santa Christ.” Santa, a man moving beyond middle age, boasted he possessed the biggest “sack” in the field, and proceeded to let everybody see. One wonders what the real Jesus was thinking when “Hung Jesus” delighted the crowd by pulling out his manhood.
Those are sins Jesus died for.
It’s heartbreaking to think about the harsh divine judgment these guys are bringing upon themselves. On the other hand, it’s encouraging to note that Jesus knew all about the Hunky Jesus contest even before He sacrificed Himself on the cross, and is so profoundly gracious and merciful that He offers a divine pardon even to men who treat Him with derision and scorn. Let’s pray they take Him up on His offer.
