Attempted Purge of Conservatives from the Republican Party
Every once in a while the true animus of the establishment Republicans for the conservative patriots of the party is unmasked.
Whether it be the angry “wacko-bird” jab that Arizona RINO Senator John McCain leveled against Tea Party stars like Sen. Ted Cruz (TX-R) and Sen. Rand Paul (KY-R)…
Or Sen. Mitch McConnell (KY-R) venting his rage through an overt threat to “punch” the Senate Conservatives Fund or Heritage Action “right in the nose” for their support of true conservative challengers in several hotly contested primary races…
The Republican infighting and the tendency as of late to devour their own is quite unnerving, and it could prove disastrous in November of this year. However, the onerous stench and economic destructiveness that is ObamaCare may prove to be their only salvation during the mid-term elections. Polls have consistently shown that the president’s healthcare law is a devastating drag upon Democrats, especially those that voted for this horrendous piece of legislation. However, that may not be enough to defeat the next presumed Democrat presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton. In 2016, the Republicans will need to present a united front, and they will need every conservative voter they can get. The current anti-conservative sentiment by many in the party will certainly not help.
All that having been said, another whopper of a lie in Republican politics has finally been exposed.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), which has historically supported Republicans of all ideological stripes, has long maintained their goal of electing Republicans and achieving a GOP majority in the Senate. Yet, earlier this week, the NRSC revealed the invalidity of this claim when they refused to throw their support behind certain conservative candidates in the Fall.
In the past, the NRSC has favored moderates in the primaries, but they have always supported the party’s ultimate nominee. They even supported the unfairly demonized Todd Akin in 2012.
But things they are a changing…and not for the good.
The NRSC recently refused to support President Obama’s conservative second cousin Dr. Milton Wolf (R-KS) in the general election should he succeed in his primary challenge against the incumbent Republican Sen. Pat Roberts. This all comes in the wake of the fact that Sen. Robert’s 28 point lead has all but evaporated with the revelations that he doesn’t live in Kansas and has been hiding that fact from the voters for over 15 years.
According to FreeRepublic.com:
The NRSC is trying to assassinate Dr. Wolf’s character by calling him unethical, unstable, and even sadistic. The attacks are so personal and so extreme, they’ve left no room to support him in the future.
The NRSC’s character attacks aren’t limited to Dr. Wolf. They’re also pushing stories suggesting that Chris McDaniel (R-MS) is a racist and that Matt Bevin (R-KY) is a criminal. It’s very hard to see how the party could support them in the general election after making such extreme statements.
The NRSC is also spending a lot of energy helping moderates in red state primaries where the outcome won’t change the makeup of the Senate instead of focusing on purple and blue states where they can gain seats. If they truly wanted to win a majority, they wouldn’t be doing this.
The real mission of the NRSC is to elect establishment candidates regardless of whether it leads to a Republican majority. The NRSC isn’t trying to build a new Senate, they’re trying to protect the old one.
It’s why they supported Arlen Specter against Pat Toomey (R-PA), Charlie Crist against Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Trey Greyson against Rand Paul (R-KY). And it’s why they’re trying so hard now to defeat conservatives in the red state primaries in Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nebraska, and Mississippi…
We can send as many people wearing red jerseys to Washington as we want, but if they’re playing for the blue team it doesn’t really matter.
The NRSC can support whichever Republicans they want, but they can no longer claim that their goal is to elect a Republican majority by supporting the campaigns of ALL the party’s nominees. Because that is simply not the case.
Our goal should be to elect principled conservatives who won’t go along with the reckless Democrat raiding of the government coffers, and who are also willing to boldly stand against Pres. Obama’s destructive, lawless policies. We need leaders who won’t say, as Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner (OH-R) notoriously stated during the debt limit battle, “No sense picking a fight we can’t win.” Actually, there’s no sense being in Congress if you’re not going to resolutely represent the interests of those that elected you. Real men and women of principle and courage are willing to stand up for what’s right no matter the cost or presumed outcome. The odds were certainly stacked against David as he faced Goliath, and one thing’s for sure, it’s a good thing he didn’t have the defeatist outlook of Rep. Boehner and all of the other RINO Republican’ts in the House and Senate. For of this we can be sure, you’re guaranteed to always loose when you spinelessly concede defeat before you’ve even dared to engaged the foe.
And it’s exactly these kinds of strong convictions that explain why many of the conservative challengers are making significant inroads and are gaining momentum in the polls.
Purging conservatives from the Republican Party is the equivalent of ripping the heart and soul out of the GOP. The conservative base has always been their most loyal voters and ardent supporters in the field. But loyalty is a two-way street. The Republicans should not think that they can constantly dis those that have historically been their most faithful constituency and get away with it forever. Many will no longer blindly “pull the lever” to vote for them. The plugging of our noses and voting for the “lesser of two evils” logic will only go so far. If the establishment Republicans don’t rethink their anti-conservative bias and fast, they will be virtually guaranteeing the “coronation” of Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Therefore, instead of fighting amongst themselves, they really should be uniting to fight a much more formidable threat to our democracy and liberty, the Democrat Party.
